The Seattle Times is excited to announce a recent opening for a talented, growth-hungry Advertising Account Executive! This individual will be directly responsible for selling advertising solutions across a broad range of multimedia products across established verticals offered by The Seattle Times, reaching more Northwest adults than any other local media. Advertising platforms include digital ( and more), mobile, print, and direct mail. Successful candidates will uncover new opportunities with existing advertisers and discover new ones through prospecting and cold calling. Through this process, they will uncover key decision makers and build a pipeline for future business. Successful candidates will be assertive, positive, goal-oriented self-starters driven to succeed.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated persuasive, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Ability to manage and grow a book of existing business
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with existing and new advertisers
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned sales territory, valid driver’s license, meeting insurance requirements, and a good driving record are essential
  • Organizational skills, effective time management, and ability to work independently within a supportive team environment

Experience: At least two years’ advertising sales experience.

Education: College degree preferred.

  • Demonstrable sales success, especially with the automobile industry/companies.
  • Digital Sales experience.
  • Experience in media, with excellent knowledge and proficiency in selling against competitive media including digital, broadcast, direct mail and other print media.
  • Self-starter, positive, assertive and goal-oriented.
  • Must be able to identify, qualify, generate, and track new business.
  • Networking abilities.

This role requires union-mandated dues, as well as a criminal background check, drug screen, personal car insurance, and a driver’s license as conditions of employment.
