Position Outline

The Seattle Times Media Solutions is a trusted media outlet, and full service digital agency. We connect Small to Medium sized businesses with full-funnel advertising solutions and technology to connect their message with their prime audience. We strive to meet all marketing needs for Seattle area businesses ranging from research and consultation to websites, Search Engine Marketing and Optimization, Programmatic and Social advertising, Direct Mail, commercial printing, and of course, the leading newspaper and website, Seattle Times and We are holistic in our recommendations, striving for performance and client success in all we do.

With a great message to tell, we are seeking a Lead Generation Specialist (New Business) to help connect our value story to local businesses through lead generation and marketing efforts. This specialist will work closely with the Director of Sales and the sales management team to collaboratively identify and prequalify prospects using various tools and sources, and create messaging and collateral to engage prospective clients in our solutions.  The successful candidate will be skilled in research, strategic-minded, and creative in coming up with new solutions and ideas to engage prospects. 

Compensation for the position will be a combination of base salary and bonuses based on leads that AEs convert into appointments and closed sales. The successful candidate will be goal-oriented, an excellent problem solver, analytical in evaluating success, and driven to help our team grow in new clients and revenue.


Key components of the job include: 

  • Research prospects for our marketing services using sources such as Buzzboard, AdMall, LinkedIn, and our Salesforce CRM to identify those most likely to buy.
  • Create, test, and optimize creative messaging in email nurture programs and sales collateral to attract leads.
  • Coordinate website content to increase search traffic and attract leads
  • Distribute leads to the proper Account Executive based on existing business rules.
  • Provide prequalifying information to help guide the sale.
  • Compile collateral for the purpose of marketing to inactive clients, including case studies, articles of interest, and templates for consultative touch points. 
  • Work closely with our Marketing department to coordinate events that attract prospects, and advertise in various outlets to grow awareness and attract leads.
  • Attend community and industry events, networking with prospects as needed.
  • Coordinate website content to increase search traffic and attract leads

Experience:  Preferred two years’ previous experience in Sales, Marketing, Social Media, Lead Generation, and/or Project Management. Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional team environment, developing and implementing marketing solutions to reach company goals. Digital Marketing experience a plus.

Education:  College degree preferred

Skills and Abilities:   Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills. Demonstrated organizational, creative and analytical skills.  Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Self-disciplined, strategic, and independently motivated.

Contact with Other:  Various members of the Seattle Times Advertising and Marketing teams; community and industry functions.

Supervision Received:   Much independent work based on general direction from management.
