Description A Senior Business Systems Analyst (Sr. BSA) at The Seattle Times is the liaison between our business user community and the IT development and operations support teams. This role requires a high-level of customer focus and business knowledge to ensure the appropriate business needs are clearly defined, communicated and delivered at or above expectations. The Sr. BSA promotes the best interest of both business and technology in the evaluation and implementation of software, services, and processes across multiple platforms.

The position will be responsible for analysis of business systems, products, and processes as well as detailed requirements definition and system design consultation, while also challenging solutions and identifying alternatives where appropriate. In addition, the Sr. BSA will work as a liaison between various departments and IT on a variety of projects with the primary responsibilities to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify and manage the real needs of the project stakeholder. The Sr. BSA will engage in various project methodologies and will manage project requirements, processes and data modeling, as well as other project requirements.

Requirements Bachelor of Arts or Sciences with Technology degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Three years’ experience in Information Technology with at least 2 years of proven ability to deliver on commitments using multiple techniques and methodologies.

Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills in order to:
work with project manager/program manager and capture the products' vision and project scope
identify project stakeholders and user classes; document user class characteristics; identify appropriate representatives for each user class and negotiate their responsibilities
participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirement documentation; reviews of work products derived from requirements specifications to ensure that the requirements are interpreted correctly
mentor IT business analyst candidates and/or IT business analysts in business analysis activities

Must be able to effectively document and translate business requirements for technical consumption

Must have proven strong analytic and problem solving skills

Must be familiar with various Project Management methodologies, Data Modeling analysis, SharePoint, use cases, test cases, user stories

Must have excellent written and communication skills and the ability to communicate throughout the organization

Salesforce experience preferred.
Business process engineering experience helpful

The job occurs in an office environment with good working conditions, requiring normal safety precautions and minimal physical effort. Extensive use of personal computing equipment.
