The Seattle Times is excited to announce a recent opening for an entry level Business Systems Analyst in our IT department!  We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about our business and systems, motivated to help drive change and committed to working as part of a self-directed team.  We are looking for someone who can build relationships, who is naturally curious, a great communicator and is passionate about serving our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of business systems, products, and processes as well as detailed analysis of requirements definition and system design consultation, while also challenging solutions and identifying alternatives where appropriate. 
  • Liaising between various departments and IT on a variety of projects with the primary responsibilities to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify and manage the real needs of the project stakeholder.
  • Promoting the best interest of both business and technology in the evaluation and implementation of software, services, and processes across multiple platforms.
  • Engaging in various project methodologies and will manage project requirements, processes and data modeling, as well as other project requirements.
  • Working with project manager/program manager and capture the products' vision and project scope.
Requirements

Experience: two years of experience in Information Technology with at least 1 year of proven ability to deliver on commitments using multiple techniques and methodologies.

Education: Bachelor of Arts or Sciences with Technology degree preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Identify project stakeholders and user classes; document user class characteristics; identify appropriate representatives for each user class and negotiate their responsibilities.
  • Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirement documentation; reviews of work products derived from requirements specifications to ensure that the requirements are interpreted correctly.
  • Must be able to effectively document and translate business requirements for technical consumption.
  • Must be familiar with various Project Management methodologies, Data Modeling analysis, SharePoint, use cases, test cases, user stories.
  • Must have excellent written and communication skills and the ability to communicate throughout the organization.
  • Business process engineering experience helpful.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
