The Seattle Times is seeking a results-oriented Product Manager I to create digital products and features that drive audience and advertising revenue and profit. The product team works cross-functionally to continually improve, mobile apps, email offerings and identify new digital platforms for our audience. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a hub with spokes to many stakeholders while keeping the business top of mind. Successful candidates will be able to turn customer needs into reality, create fast, cheap experiments and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to deeply understand our customers.


  • Serve as a key thought leader at The Seattle Times in shaping the advertising and audience revenue product roadmap and strategy, prioritizing and reprioritizing as needed to optimize our developer and design resources.
  • Lead product development from the design stages through development and release in an agile software development environment.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of product managers, software engineers, business intelligence analysts, UX designers and department stakeholders in News, Circulation, Advertising and Marketing.
  • Translate feature ideas, user needs into actionable product requirements for software developers.
  • Do ad-hoc data analysis and make product decisions based off the data.
  • Run fast, cheap experiments to increase conversions and inform product decisions. This work could include A/B testing, user testing analysis.
  • Stay on top of trends in and outside the industry.

Experience: Two or more years of consumer-facing product experience in digital media, e-commerce, subscription or other related industry.

Education: Undergraduate degree in journalism, business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or other relevant area.

  • Able to partner with developers and designers to translate product needs into scalable technical solutions. Experience with the agile product development process and supporting tools such as JIRA or Rally.
  • Experience working in Web and digital delivery technologies and analytics (HTML/CSS, Mobile Apps, Google Analytics, Adobe SiteCatalyst, Tag Manager).
  • Preferred experience with publishing e-commerce, email marketing processes and applications such as Salesforce, WordPress, Marketing Cloud
  • Strong communication skills, including routine presentations/interactions with C-level executives
