Description POSITION: Life Skills Coordinator/Case Manager, Adults in Recovery (A.I.R.) Program
SUPERVISOR: Railton Place Program Director
STATUS: Non-Exempt/ Full-Time (40 hours/week)

OVERVIEW: The Life Skills Coordinator/Case Manager is responsible for providing services to adults in transitional and permanent housing programs. Participants are male and female veterans and people who have experienced extensive homelessness, and face mental, physical challenges and/or substance abuse. Through intake and assessment, case manager will determine areas of interest and need as it pertains to income, housing stability, addressing mental and physical health, substance use and essential life skills for independent living.

• Conduct intake and assessment
• Develop service plans that address client strengths, interests, risk factors and needs.
• Ability to establish rapport, provide culturally competent case management and counseling.
• Ability to identify, assess and intervene should a behavioral issue arise.
• Monitor and address barriers to program engagement and achievement of goals.
• Knowledge of and ability to teach essential life skills.
• Provide referrals for housing, mental health, substance use, job training and other areas of need when necessary.
• Ability to advocate for clients and work collaboratively with on-site property management.
• Collaborate with other community providers, and remain informed of areas of interest pertaining to veterans, mental health, substance use and homelessness.
• Participate in weekly supervision and staff meeting.
• Maintain confidential and up-to-date case files and complete data collection as needed.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Fluent Spanish language highly preferred.
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling preferred. Bachelors with extensive related experience will be considered.
• Experience working with adults who are in crisis, homeless, economically disadvantaged, mentally ill and/or chemically dependent preferred.
• Experience working from a strengths based, client centered, trauma informed perspectives.
• Experience working with Veterans preferred.
• Ability to write case notes, reports and collect data.
• Must be able to type and use a computer.
• Must have a valid California Driver License and insurable to drive Salvation Army vehicles.
• Knowledge of The Salvation Army programs, practices, policies and programs desirable.
