Corps/Unit Mission Statement: Preschool Statement:
Kona Corps Mission Statement: The Kona Corps of The Salvation Army exists to
worship God, to bring souls to the saving grace of Jesus Christ as directed by the Holy
Scriptures, and to exemplify God’s love through thought, word, and deed.
The Ohana Keiki Preschool Mission Statement: The Ohana Keiki Preschool is dedicated
to providing children a safe environment where they can grow socially, mentally,
physically and spiritually.
JOB SUMMARY: The Cook must fulfill all Health and Nutrition State requirements,
providing qualified daily meal components as required by the Federal USDA food
program for the Day Care Center. Keep accurate records of meals, food purchasing
records and daily, weekly and monthly meal reports. Prep/Cook meals for the corps
program as needed (mainly dinner; lunch during the summer occasionally as program
needs require). The cook is also in charge of maintaining a clean and organized work
environment (entire kitchen).
This is a Full-time Position that requires 32.5 hours minimum per week
Qualification Requirements:
Valid Driver’s License Food and Nutrition Education Training
Current Physical & TB Clearance High School Diploma or Higher
CPR & First Aid Certification Card – Infant/Toddler
Current Finger Print & Criminal History Background Check
PATCH Registry Certificate Food Safety Service Certification (Hawaii State
Salvation Army Protect the Mission training Dept. of Health)
All requirements shall be kept updated
 Prepare meal plans, place weekly orders for food purchasing for the USDA Food
 Keep updated with new and current Health, Food and Safety information.
 Participate in annual Child and Adult Food Nutrition Program training
 Keep accurate written records of the USDA Food program for the Day Care center
 Participate in workshops and training sessions when available, for personal growth in
the Early Childhood Education.
 Any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher, Director, or Corps Officer of the
Salvation Army.
 Communicate with the Corps Officer, Head Teacher, or Director of any concerns.
 Display awareness of the mission of the Salvation Army to the public in a positive
manner at all times.
 Conduct staff training of the USDA Food Program
 Plan appropriate meals for Preschool fieldtrips and or school events
 Work with Corps Officer and Program assistant to plan meals for corps programs
 Plan and prep (occasionally cook) meals for the corps programs (mainly dinner;
sometimes lunch; all meals as assigned).
Performs other duties as assigned. Able to lift up to 40lbs.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending,
stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand
coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50
pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; travelling by airplane.

Most work will be indoors at Kona Corps. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and
on the mainland, is required. (if needed)
