POSITION: Day Camp Counselor
SUPERVISOR: Day Camp Director
STATUS: Seasonal-Temporary position – 20-40 hours/week

The Day Camp Counselor is primarily responsible in leading daily youth activities and enrichments at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Day Camp. The Day Camp Counselor will be responsible in supervising students K - 8 as assigned during each week of Day Camp. The counselor shall work under direct supervision of the Day Camp Lead, Day Camp Manager, and work closely with their Day Camp Team.

1. Have previous experience working in Day Camps.
2. Age Eighteen (18) or older for Day Camp Counselor and Age Twenty One (21) or older for Day Camp Driver.
3. CA Driver License Class C for Day Camp Driver preferred. Holder of Class B Driver License/bus endorsement for 26 Passenger Bus is a big PLUS!
4. Must be available for training and lesson planning Week of June 10th – 14th. If not available, consult with Manager to ensure proper training and planning is completed.
5. Must be available for summer program June 17th to August 9th. If not available, please consult with Manager immediately.
6. A passion for working with diverse student population ages 5 to 13.
7. An understanding of The Salvation Army standards, philosophy, and policy with a willingness to adhere to same.
8. Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults, in a trauma-informed and positive manner, which will lead to building positive self-esteem and responsibility. (A totally quiet person will not do well in this job.)
9. A friendly personality with the ability to be firm, yet loving, while upholding Day Camp rules.
10. Ability to foresee potential problems and correct them before they escalate.
11. Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations well.
