DEPARTMENT: Camp Kuratli at Trestle Glen
POSITION TITLE: Craft and Canteen Coordinator
STATUS: Temporary
SUPERVISOR: Program Director & Assistant Program Director
SCOPE OF POSITION: Crafts: Organize and set up the craft house to facilitate arts and crafts for campers and staff, maintain inventory, and order supplies
Canteen: To organize and coordinate the operation of the camp canteen (snack bar).
• High School Diploma minimum requirement
• Have a valid Driver’s License
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Some camp or youth work experience preferred
• Prior leadership experience preferred

Craft Duties:
• Operate craft house during all open hours such as free time, electives and cabin activity.
• Lead and coordinate craft house activities during free-time, including the distribution of Gimp.
• Implement creative craft ideas for campers and staff that keep in line with and reinforce spiritual themes of summer program.
• Keep craft area clean and well organized, and deep clean at the end of each week.
• Keep an ongoing inventory list of craft supplies.
• Prepare and place craft house supply order, as necessary, with the approval of the Divisional Youth Secretary.
• Assist counselors with the preparation, craft ideas, and cleanup of daily cabin activities.
• Assist leaders/teachers with the preparation and clean-up of elective held in the craft house, or using the craft house supplies.
• Assist program and other staff to prepare for evening camp fire and chapels, assisting with providing any craft house supplies needed for those programs.
• Help create campfire props and decorations as directed.
• Assist campers in creating props and decorations for campfire program and activities as needed.

Canteen Duties:
• Lead and coordinate the tracking of canteen inventory and camper spending logs.
• Lead and coordinate inventory, restocking and purchasing of product.
• Schedule and supervise assigned staff working the canteen.

General Duties:
• Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways in campers and staff.
• Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
• Assist with the implementation of summer camp staff orientation, including volunteers and guest staff.
• Work alongside and in agreement with the Divisional Youth Leaders, other divisional officers and special guests as directed.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers and campers.
• Encourage adherence to camp & Salvation Army policies and procedures.
• Ensure and provide for the supervision and physical/emotional safety of campers and staff
• Will be required to serve as Break Day Supervisor at times during the season.
• May be requested to drive or accompany hospital transport of camper or staff.
• Participate and/or assist in all summer camp programs as required e.g. chapel, staff meetings, campfire, camp wide games, night-watch, free-time, electives, rise and shine duty, etc.
• Ensure and assist in the cleanliness of your cabin and outside area.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the program director, Divisional Youth Secretaries or camp director.

• May be required to work in all areas of camp including, but not limited to, the kitchen, dish room, laundry facility, and grounds.

The Salvation Army does have a dress code. This will be shared with you at the time of employment.
The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a motor vehicle record check. They must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
