KROC CENTER HAWAII VISION: Kroc Center Hawaii is a community center where families, individuals and relationships thrive in the name of Jesus.

The Center Director CD has the responsibility to successfully lead all areas of the daily operations of The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Hawaii. The CD will coordinate the aforementioned activities throughout the Kroc Center in an efficient and consistent manner. In the absence of the Administrator, the CD has full and direct responsibility for any and all venues of Kroc Center operations and programs as assigned by the Administrator. The CD advises and makes recommendations to the Administrator regarding overall departmental and organizational goals, objectives, programs, procedures, and policies. The purpose of the CD position is to provide a consistent executive and ministry driving force throughout all areas of the Kroc Center and to represent The Salvation Army Kroc Center in the community. The CD will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.


1. BA or BS in Business or Education or related field OR 5 to 10 years progressive supervisory experience in related field
2. Current CPR and First Aid certification (may be acquired after employment).
3. Experience in coaching/motivating groups & have proven leadership skills.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
5. Strong motivational and management skills
6. Maintain professional attitude and approach in problem solving
7. Have the ability to develop and administer budgets
8. Ability to effectively understand, reflect, communicate the Christian principle, mission, vision, goals and strengths of The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.


1. 5 to 10 Years of Program Experience with Salvation Army Programs or Operations
2. Proven success as a Business Director, Executive Director, or General Manager for a large organization
3. Over three years of experience working with Business and Nonprofit Programs on Oahu.
4. Uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing
5. Experience as a Department Head in TSA Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division
6. Experience with planning and leading programs at the Corps and Divisional level
7. Familiarity with traditional Salvation Army programs at the Corps, Divisional, Territorial and International level
8. Extensive experience with Kroc Center Projects at the Divisional and Territorial Level
9. Experience and knowledge of the Kroc Center development process from concept, schematic design, preopening, preconstruction, and construction phase
10. Involvement in Kroc Center Community Development with Steering Committee, TSA Advisory Board, Community and Business Stakeholders in the West Oahu Community

1. The Center Director will give direct supervision to the Operations Director, Associate Director of Finance and F&B, Health & Wellness Manager, Facilities Manager, Human Resources Manager, Marketing Manager, and Administrative Assistant to the Administrator & Center Director.
2. Direct activities in the TSA Kroc Center Development, Business, Facilities, Programs, and Human Resources to optimize operational efficiencies under the direction of the Administrator.

a. Develop and implement program plans and budgets with Administrator and Directors
b. Lead in the development of fiscally sound programs
c. Review and make recommendations in hiring, discipline, review, rewarding and terminating of staff.
d. Review staff scheduling with Directors to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
e. Review facility safety and maintenance policies, as well as Protecting the Mission
f. Assist the Administrator to ensure compliance with Salvation Army mission, policies and procedures, and the Kroc Center Hawaii Vision to optimize financial, program and ministry performance.
3. Attend regularly scheduled meetings at Kroc Center Hawaii and DHQ, and initiate meetings with appropriate staff, for the purpose of sharing and gathering appropriate information to ensure the fulfillment of Kroc Center Hawaii overall Pro Forma.
4. The CD will review all legal, insurance and property matters related to the safe operation of the Kroc Center with the Administrator and Operations Director.
5. Meet regularly with the Kroc Center Administrator, Operations Director, Associate Directors, Center Facilitator, and Program Managers to make recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment and coordinate business operation and program issues with sound fiscal and budgetary requirements.
6. Assist the Kroc Center Administrator, Operations Director, Associate Directors, Center Facilitator, and Program Managers with all matters relating to Finance, including budgets, requisitions, proposals for purchase, property proposals and other matters needing approval of the Command Finance Council (CFC). Be available to give answers about expenditures and other fiscal related matters concerning the business aspects of the Kroc Center.
7. Work in a cooperative manner with the other on-site Kroc Center program managers, discussing any problems that may be occurring within the facilities in which their programs operate.
8. Assist the Administrator in conjunction with Operations Director and Community Relations Manager with the development and maintenance of beneficial relationships with government, community and business leaders, funding agencies, and advisory council.
9. Develop cooperative ventures that engage other community groups in the development of interaction with The Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii programs and building usage.
10. The CD, Administrator, Operations Manager, Community Relations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator will be the key liaisons in providing staff support to related Advisory Council Committees as assigned by the Administrator.

11. Assist the Administrator and review recommendations from all departments and Human Resources Manager in recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and development of the all TSA Kroc Center Hawaii Team Members.
12. The CD will lead and assist with Corporate Compliance, Construction Projects, Special Projects, including Seasonal Fundraising Activities of The Salvation Army during Christmas such as Red Kettle Campaign, Angel Tree, etc. other duties as assigned.
13. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies and submit purchasing requisitions as needed to meet operational needs following budgetary guidelines and procedures for procurement.
14. Strong interpersonal & communication skills. Able to generate, maintain & demonstrate a friendly, enthusiastic positive attitude.
15. Respond professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members and staff.
16. Work well with Managers, Directors, Support staff, and Divisional Team.

The position required a high degree of energy, physically fit and have the endurance to complete the workout. Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting heavy weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting & prolonged standing and walking. Must be able to frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 50-75 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.

The position requires the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The position also requires the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

While performing the duties of this job, regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the environment is occasionally loud. Extended workdays are a frequent occurrence, as are weekends and holidays as needed to support the business.

Most work will be at The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Hawaii. There will also be times where this employee will be outdoors and travel to other TSA sites or off campus. Attendance at trainings and conferences, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required. Extensive travel is possible, including air travel, driving long distances, night driving, overnight travel, and extended travel of three days or more.

Cardio and strength training equipment may be needed.

Current CPR and AED certificates may be acquired after employment.
The candidate chosen for this position must have a valid driver’s license and insured transportation.
On an annual basis, employees are required to participate in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program.
