POSITION SUMMARY: The Creative Arts & Education (CA&E) Manager will develop, implement, direct, evaluate, and promote Music, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Education programs offered at The Salvation Army RJKCCC throughout the center and within the community. The CA&E Manager will provide leadership to program aides, instructors and volunteers.

The Creative Arts & Education Manager will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Music, Theater, Performing Arts, Education or related field, OR equivalent experience.
2. Have at least two years’ experience in developing, planning, management and supervising arts and education programs.
3. Experience in developing and administering budgets for educational facilities or programs and productions.
4. Have successful experience in supervising and managing a professional staff and volunteers.
5. Ability to effectively understand, reflect and communicate the Christian principles, mission, goals, and strengths of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.
6. Must live a life of integrity and practice in their own life the spiritual principles and behavior they advocate to children.
7. Have the ability to work with children, youth, adults, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education, including but not limited to:
a. Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages.
b. Able to authentically connect relationally with children.
c. Sensitivity to the individual needs of children.
d. Ability to use appropriate positive discipline consistently.
e. Dependability, including maintaining regular and punctual work attendance.
f. Ability to handle security and crisis situations, calmly.
g. Ability to seek mentoring relationships and use it consistently.
h. Ability to supervise staff and participants of varying education and cultures.

1. Artistic expertise in one or more of these disciplines: Music, Art, Drama/Theatre Arts or Dance to include hula, ballet, tap and jazz.
2. 3 to 5 years’ experience in producing theater, music, dance, performance art and/or festival performances, projects, events, and concerts.

1. Plan, direct and guide all creative arts & education programs, high-quality end of season performances, fundraising activities, and community outreach initiatives.
2. Develop classes for the music, art, education and performing arts programs; prepare content for seasonal program guides. Ensures programs are inputted and ready for sale in RMS and online.
3. Regularly develops, updates, and implements curriculum and standards.
4. Oversee the performance rehearsal process, including creating timelines, communicating with program participants, marketing development, and show production.
5. Attend, promote and assist with Divisional and Territorial youth events as directed.
6. Recruit, hire, train and develop a high-performance team of instructors and program aides.
7. Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to review performance and offer direction, motivation and guidance toward achieving individual, departmental and center goals.
8. Assist in the writing of job descriptions for staff, instructors, coordinators, interns, and volunteers.
9. Maintain clear channels of communication with staff, volunteers and program participants. This will include the writing of internal memos, schedules, flyers, newsletters and one on one discussion.
10. Collaborate with Children’s Ministry Director to recruit and encourage youth to attend Music Camp at The Salvation Army’s Camp Homelani.
11. Possesses a strong customer service focus. Responds promptly and professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members and staff. Ensures timely payment of all program dues by program participants and third party vendors.
12. Conducts surveys to determine the best and most desired art & education programs, and initiates new activities for all age groups.
13. Ensure that Protection the Mission (PTM) policies are adhered to by all staff and volunteers. Conducts scheduled audits and trainings as part of prevention program.
14. Develop systems that safe guard any and all facilities, supplies and equipment related to the Creative Arts & Education Program. Maintain proper inventory of equipment, instruments and supplies according to Salvation Army policies and procedures.
15. Ensure the attractive appearance and cleanliness of program spaces, including but not limited to the WPAC, Art Studio, ballrooms and classrooms.
16. Establish a safe, healthy, and community-focused environment that delivers high member and participant satisfaction, capturing and tracking success stories.
17. Report all problems with facilities to the Facilities Manager and if needed the RJKCCC Administrator, Center Director and Program Director.
18. Work with the Facilities Manager to establish an on-going preventative maintenance program for the arts and education program spaces.
19. Assist with program/event transportation as needed.
20. Create and maintain an office support system that will allow for timely and accurate record keeping, including statistical reports, activity rosters, attendance, expenses, and fundraising requirements.
21. Assist the RJKCCC Administrator, Center Director, Program Director and Associate Director of Finance and F&B with the annual budget preparation, specifically related to the Creative Arts & Education programs. Give input as needed. Be available to give answers about expenditures and other fiscal related matters concerning Creative Arts & Education Programs.
22. Coordinates teams for Outreach initiatives such as KIMO (Kroc Integrated Mission Outreach) and Kroc on the Go (Art and Music based programs).
23. Maintains good public relations with community members and donors. Develop cooperative ventures that engage other community groups in the advancement of arts and education programs.
24. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
25. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and management team meetings.
26. Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; traveling by airplane. This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

Equipment used includes general office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, printers, fax machines, telephone (office and cell), video projectors, sound-systems, microphones, audio-visual and lighting equipment, 10-key calculator, and automobile.

Most work will be indoors at the Kroc Center, and in primary and secondary target areas of the Kroc Center located in West Oahu. Extensive travel is possible, including air travel, driving long distances, night driving, and extended travel of three days or more.
