SUPERVISOR: Lahaina Corps Officer, Maui County Coordinator
FLSA STATUS: Part Time

JOB SUMMARY:
The primary goal of this position is to monitor and facilitate all aspects of the Hale Palekana Homeless Drop-In Center. As a Drop-in Center Worker, you will be responsible to monitor and daily report on the use of the drop-in center facilities by our homeless clientele, pickup, prepare and serve food at the various meals, monitor and schedule the use of the laundry and showers, and working alongside and guide the various volunteers and volunteer groups who assist in the drop-in center. You will also be responsible for assisting with the upkeep of the laundry and shower facilities, dining area, and kitchen and all food storage areas.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Hold food handling certificate in good standing (if needed)
• Valid driver’s license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
• Maintain daily logs, records and/or reports necessary to comply with grantors, food donors and health department.
• Monitor and schedule the use of shower and laundry facilities.
• Prepare and cook meals for the drop-in center.
• Assist with the distribution of prepared meals, donated and/or nonperishable food items brought in by volunteer groups.
• Pickup, shop, stock and inventory food and hygiene items as necessary for the program.
• With guidance from the Corps Officer, create menus for the weekly meals.
• Maintain a clean a work environment through cleaning, sanitizing and upkeep of the kitchen and kitchen equipment, storage areas, showers, laundry and dining area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; traveling by airplane.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephones; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
Valid Hawaii driver’s license.
Travel on and off-island as necessary for training (if needed)


DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be outdoors and indoors in Lahaina and may require travel to the south and central areas of Maui County. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.
