The Maintenance Technician will support the Facilities Engineer Manager and/or Facilities Maintenance Assistant Supervisor in maintaining Salvation Army buildings, properties, and equipment in superb operating condition.

• Perform cleaning, maintenance, ongoing repairs of facility, and support janitorial functions of facility (floors, walls, carpets, bathrooms, gymnasium, chapel, classrooms, venue, garage area, storage areas, etc.)
• Conducts facility and grounds maintenance (painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry).
• Monitoring and upkeep of all building facilities including street property, parking lot and landscaped areas.
• Support monitoring of all electrical, security, communication and ventilation systems for the building. Immediately report any problems to the Facilities Engineer Manager/Facilities Maintenance Assistant Supervisor/ Center Director/Executive Director
• Meet regularly with the Facilities Engineer Manager to participate in setting priorities and recommendations for repairs, remodeling and replacement of facilities and equipment.
• Maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of the facilities of the RJKCCC and as directed, Railton Place.
• Ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment and cleaning supplies.
• If outside vendors are needed, advise the Facilities Engineer Manager and Facilities Maintenance Assistant Supervisor
• Drives Corps vehicles as required by the Kroc Center Executive Team
• Provide the requested venue set up, break down and clean-up of all scheduled activities or special events. Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and facilities as needed.
• Responsible for monitoring garbage levels and ensuring compactor is functioning properly. Be sure compactor room is locked at all times.
• As directed, be among the first respondents on fire alarm system, chemical spills and/or hazardous materials management. In the event of a chlorine gas spill, call CHEMTREC at their Emergency “800” number.
• As directed, identify any needed repairs or special projects to plumbing, electrical, windows or structures and report them to Facilities Engineer Manager or Facilities Maintenance Assistant Supervisor. To ensure high standards, outside vendors may be used.
• Report any equipment and supply needs to the Facilities Engineer Manager.
• Responsible for upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of the maintenance shop and all janitorial storage areas in all the buildings of the RJKCCC. Be sure all tools and equipment are properly stored after use.
• Perform other Railton maintenance duties as requested by management.
• Check daily for any signs of graffiti or vandalism damage to the RJKCCC buildings and property, including bus stops, fences and light poles. Resolve as appropriate by cleaning or painting.
• Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests and members of the RJKCCC. Report all problems with the facilities to the Facilities Engineer Manager, Facilities Maintenance Assistant Supervisor, and/or Center Director.
• Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
• Perform other assignments/duties as directed.

• At least three years’ experience in general maintenance and repairs, or construction trade.
• Forklift Certified preferred

EQUIPMENT USED: Hand operated power tools, computer, telephone, two-way radio, forklift (if certified)

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
• Ability to assist people entering and exiting from passenger vehicles
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
