POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Services Program Assistant will assist the Family Services Manager with administrative duties and Family Services functions at Kroc Center Hawaii. This person must possess good verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work with families and individuals from all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. Candidate should be sensitive to the challenges of marginalized populations, be able to exercise cultural competency, treat everyone with dignity and respect, and maintain confidentiality.

The Family Services Program Assistant will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Reads, writes and speaks English.
3. Ability to use new software programs with basic training. Comprehensive proficiency in the most current version of Windows, to include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
4. Service-oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
5. Excellent interaction and phone skills.
6. Have or obtain within 30 days a valid Hawaii Driver’s license.
7. Ability to effectively understand, reflect, communicate the Christian principles, mission, goals, and strengths of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.
8. Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
10. Strong motivational and management skills.

• Good administrative and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work well with diverse cultures and vulnerable populations.

1. Be available to work as scheduled, including evenings and weekends as needed.
2. Available to travel as needed.
3. Assist in the planning and daily coordination of Family Services activities.
4. Perform general office duties - answering phones, filing, drafting letters, faxing and copying documents as needed.
5. Assist with implementation and compliance of Resilience HUB contract including the timely receiving, distribution and reporting of large shipments of Personal Protective Equipment.
6. Assist with screening and processing applications and following up with phone calls as assigned
7. Assist with scheduling scholarship interviews and reserving rooms as required.
8. Assist with assembling files and scholarship packets and maintaining all files and documents per agency protocol.
9. Assist with mailing out correspondence in a timely manner
10. Assist with preparation and set up of Life Enrichment workshops and classes as assigned.
11. Assist with updating and maintaining Community Resource file
12. Assist with data entry, statistics, organization and upkeep of scholarship files, class attendance sheets, surveys and various reports.
13. Work with membership staff as needed to support the accurate processing of all membership and program scholarships.
14. Work in a cooperative and positive manner with the other on-site directors and managers at the Kroc Center Hawaii.
15. Attend all scheduled training and meetings as assigned.
16. Coordinate inventory for supplies and equipment related to Family Services Dept.
17. Assist with planning, preparing and purchasing supplies needed for office, Life Enrichment classes and special projects. Conduct regular inventory of all equipment and supplies. Follow policies and procedures to maintain approval of supplies and arrange replacement when necessary, maintaining strict adherence to the budget.
18. Assist with keeping work area and storage areas neat and organized
19. Provide excellent customer service and uphold the vision of the Kroc Center Hawaii.
20. Help coordinate classes, activities and projects as assigned
21. Interact professionally and work well with other employees, community members, church attenders, and volunteers while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army.
22. Follow and adhere to Salvation Army fleet procedures while driving and inspecting vehicles.
23. Certification by and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
24. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
25. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center.
26. Perform other assignments/duties as directed.

2. Be positive, responsive, detail oriented and have the ability to take projects from beginning through completion.
3. Have the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The person in this position must be able to cultivate teamwork with staff and the facility as a whole.
4. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. They must be able to work with limited supervision and in a team setting with other professionals.
5. Must be able to exercise good judgment and be comfortable taking initiative with projects.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
7. Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
8. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.
9. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds.

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.
Equipment: Proficient with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, and standard office equipment and systems.

• Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and insured transportation and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
