FLSA Status: Full-time (40 hours per week) non-exempt
Hours: A shift between the center’s hours of operation
(6:30am- 6:00pm Monday thru Friday)
Schedule may change upon 1 week notice.

The CNA role is to provide overall order, efficiency, and safe operations of program participants as directed and scheduled by Administrator. The CNA works with the Program Coordinator, Registered Nurse and Recreation Coordinator in a team setting and assists with the overall safety and well being of the program.

• Assist with serving, feeding and cleanup of all meals and snacks.
• Open the Center and welcome and assist clients arriving to the Center
• Close the Center and escort clients to and from the Handi-vans and private vehicles with patience and in a courteous manner. Ensure all clients are picked up from the Center in a timely manner by contacting the family if necessary.
• Assists with maintaining order and cleanliness throughout the program site, this includes assisting with laundry, dishes, sweeping, and mopping of center’s common areas.
• Complies with the center’s reasonable expectation of orderly, efficient, and safe operations.
• Responsible for Observing, Reporting, and Documenting any and all Client’s incidents, changes in status, and progress in appropriate records on a daily basis.
• Use of Infection Control Procedures will be a required practice when exposed and handling blood and bodily fluids and excretions.
• Client’s rights, HIPAA policies, and respect shall be followed when dealing with the clients.
• Maintain a professional manner at all times interact with others with courtesy, respect, and patience.

• Complete annual online Kupuna Education program by Kapiolani Community College (certification at employees expense)
• Complete annual online Armatus Preventing Elderly Abuse and Neglect training.
• Complete annual online Armatus Know your policies training.
• Dress Code: scrubs and covered shoes, unless otherwise directed.
• Name Badge must be worn at all times while on duty. A company badge will provided at no expense thereafter any lost badge will need to be purchased.
• Valid Certified Nurse Assistance Certificate (recertification at employees expense)
• Valid CPR and First Aide Certification (recertification at employees expense)
• Annual Physician’s clearance to work in Adult Day Care setting.

You as a CNA will be held accountable and responsible for:

The most important function that should be performed in conjunction with your assigned task is PATIENT SAFETY…Expectations include picking up/cleaning up rubbish on floors & spills that may cause potential falling hazard, pushing in chairs to create clear walkways, scanning and observing the main floor at all times, assessing assistive devices, and ensuring adequate floor coverage.

* Supervision and direction will come from the RN or Program Coordinator.
* Manage toileting schedule for clients on a toileting management program.
* Assist all other non-independent clients to the restroom as needed (Document accordingly)
* Notify the RN of any abnormal findings or if shower cleanup is needed.
* Transferring, ambulating, and assisting with ADLs of participants when participant require assistance.
* Manage, maintain, and organize inventory of supplies such as bathroom necessities, gloves, cleaning supplies, etc. before supplies run out completely, inform the Main office or list what is needed on the supplies board.
* Other duties as directed by RN or Program Coordinator

* Supervision and direction will come from the RN or Program Coordinator.
* Responsible to manage client’s extra clothes and bathroom supplies – use appropriate forms to inform the family & ensure supplies are brought back to the Center.
* Responsible to carry out client’s shower according to shower schedule (Document accordingly)
* Responsible to clean shower room after showers/cleanup provided.
* Take blood pressure for clients that are on the schedule (Document accordingly)
* Assist clients in need of oral care after lunch if needed.
* Responsible to manage clients in need of specialized exercises prescribed (Document accordingly)
* Responsible to encourage and ensure all clients to exercise/walk 2x per day during scheduled times.
* Notify the RN of any abnormal findings immediately.
* Transferring, ambulating, and assisting with ADLs of participants when participant require assistance.
* Quality check on all client’s assistive devices i.e. walker tennis balls, canes, wheelchairs.
* Other duties as directed by RN or Program Coordinator.

* Supervision and direction will come from the Activities Director.
* Assist the Activity Director in implementing and conducting daily activities, classes and entertainment as planned and directed by the Activities Director.
* Provide moral support and encouragement to clients participating in activities and classes.
* Ability to motivate and teach participants how to participate in activities and classes.
* Ability to take initiative and recognize when there are periods in the day where the clients could benefit from other forms of activities or table games.
* Responsible to create a warm and friendly atmosphere with the use of music and seating.
* Other duties as directed by the Activities Director or Program Coordinator.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; travelling by airplane.

Use of office equipment such as computer, blood pressure machine, and manual scale.

Most work will be indoors at 296 N. Vineyard Blvd. Kauluwela Mission Corp. On occasion you may be asked to assist clients on field trips at miscellaneous locations.
