POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities Assistant will assist the Facilities Manager in duties related to Facilities Management at Kroc Center Hawaii. This person must possess effective verbal and written communications and fill in as a leader when scheduling requires. Ability to work with all ethnic and socio-economic populations. Possesses sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural perspectives and the ability to work with diverse populations.

The Facilities Assistant will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
2. Reads, writes and speaks English.
3. Ability to use new software programs with basic training. Comprehensive proficiency in the most current version of Windows, which includes Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
4. Service-oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
5. Excellent interaction and phone skills.
6. Have or obtain within 10 days a valid Hawaii Driver’s license and insured transportation.
7. Ability to effectively understand, reflect, communicate the Christian principles, mission, goals, and strengths of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.
8. Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
10. Strong motivational and management skills.

1. Ability to understand the function and activities of maintenance technical, housekeeping, painting and landscaping personnel

1. Be available to work as scheduled, including weekends and evenings.
2. Available to travel as needed.
3. Assist in the planning and daily coordination of Facilities work requests.

4. Assist with organizing and implementing staff trainings and screenings on an on-going basis.
5. Assist Facilities Manager with data entry, keeping accurate monthly and yearly statistics, organization and upkeep of all files and maintenance logs.
6. Work in a cooperative and positive manner with the other on-site directors and managers at the Kroc Center Hawaii.
7. Attend all scheduled staff and management team meetings.
8. Coordinate inventory for supplies and equipment for the Facility.
9. Budget, plan and prepare supply orders for facilities supplies, equipment and inventory. Conduct regular inventory of all equipment and supplies. Follow policies and procedures to maintain approval of supplies and arrange replacement when necessary. Will maintain strict adherence to the budget.
10. Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
11. Interact professionally and work well with other employees, community members, church attenders, and volunteers while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army.
12. Follow and adhere to Salvation Army fleet procedures while driving and inspecting vehicles.
13. Certification by and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
14. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
15. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center.
16. Perform other assignments/duties as directed.

1. Have the ability to maintain a self-motivated and self- directed schedule along with the ability to address multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner.
2. Be positive, responsive, detail oriented and have the ability to take projects from beginning through completion.
3. Have the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The person in this position must be able to cultivate teamwork with staff and the facility as a whole.
4. Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. They must be able to work with limited supervision and in a team setting with other professionals.
5. Must be able to exercise good judgment and be comfortable taking initiative with projects.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
7. Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner.
8. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.
9. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals.

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds.

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.
Equipment: Proficient with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, and standard office equipment and systems.

1. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and insured transportation and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program on an annual basis.
2. Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification required (May be acquired within 90 Day Probation)
