The Operational Manager oversees front desk operations of the community center.
Duties will include, but not limited to, front desk operation, rental submissions, swimming scheduling, copying, filing, membership management, statistics, reports, mailings, phone answering, and finance processing.

Safety – ensure the safe participation of all members, guests and fellow staff in center activities and programs, adhering to center safety policies and procedures.
Maintenance – assist in the proper care and maintenance of the facility and equipment following designated maintenance procedures assigned by supervisors.
Security – work with center staff and directors to monitor and maintain the security of our facility.
Special Events – assist center staff as required in the planning, development and implementation of special events and programs throughout the year.
Employees may also be requested to perform other reasonable business related duties by their immediate supervisor or center management.


• Provide direct leadership for pool and all aquatic programs; working some nights and weekends to lead Aquatics Programs.
• Develop & coordinate pool scheduling and programs; operate Swim Lessons and Swim Club.
• Supervise and process payroll for all Aquatics Staff.
• Supervise, manage and evaluate all aquatics staff.
• Operate Water Safety and CPR Instructional Classes, for recruitment and as a Red Shield Class.
• Serve as CPR Training Lead for Orange County Command, working with OC Staff to coordinate regional trainings as needed.
• Conduct ongoing trainings for all pool staff as needed.
• Maintain appropriate records for pool operations.
• Ensure all certifications are maintained and current.
• Monitor pool areas, including office, deck and locker rooms.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Record pool statistics and reports.
• Participate in staff training and development programs.
• Keep all certifications current.
• Perform pool maintenance, order supplies and store appropriately. Work with Program Director and/or Corps Officer on any required maintenance/repairs needed for the pool.
• Work with staff to enforce facility safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures, maintain confidential information, avoiding any gossip within the staff and personnel.
• Occasional support with children’s programming.
• Assist Program Director/Corps Officers with recruitment of additional aquatics staff.

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push and pull objects such as general office and small recreational equipment. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.


• High School Diploma/GED minimum.
• Two years successful experience in similar recreational aquatics program
• Customer Service experience.
• Accounting & book-keeping experience.


• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and general office procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Spanish speaking a plus.
• Working knowledge of Salvation Army policies, procedures and programs, as well as a compassionate understanding and adherence to Salvation Army ministry and mission.
