POSITION:  Merchandise Processor FT - Dimond

DEPARTMENT: Divisional Retail Operations

REPORTS TO:  Store Manager

STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-tme 40/hrs week, Health Benefits available

The Salvation Army Dimond Family Thrift Store is now hiring a Full-time Merchandise Processor.

The Merchandise Processor is responsible for the safe handling of all goods and materials, as well as marking and moving merchandise in the day-to-day operations of the Thrift Store.



1. Handle and sort donated materials.

2. Assess condition and value of goods quickly and accurately.

3. Price inspected goods and prepare for placement on sales floor.

4. Sanitize furniture and domestics as required.

5. Refer customer complaints to management.

6. Work to maintain warehouse cleanliness inside and out.

7. Assist with the loss prevention program, reporting all incidents of loss to management in a timely manner.

8. Report safety hazards; assist in the protection of property, vehicles, and buildings.

9. Responsible for floor maintenance and cleanliness on a daily basis, as well as regular restroom cleanliness and essentials replenishment.

10. Participate in Thrift Store staff meetings.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Speaking, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, fingering, climbing, and balancing. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal limits. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Driving a motor vehicle.


Work is primarily performed throughout the store building. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures and wet conditions. Noise level is generally low to medium. Hearing protection may be worn when working around operating machinery.


1. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision.

2. Previous experience working in a warehouse or retail environment.

3. Knowledge of merchandise pricing.

4. Basic computer skills.
