POSITION SUMMARY: The Social Media Specialist (SMS) is responsible for coordinating and executing all functions associated with Kroc Center Hawaii’s social media accounts, contribute editorially to all Kroc Center Hawaii printed and online publications and provide administrative support to the Marketing Department.

The candidate selected for this position will follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.

The candidate selected for this position will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field or related work experience.
2. Minimum one year of experience in a marketing, communications or journalism position. Must provide samples of work.
3. General knowledge and experience:
a. Ability to develop creative social media campaign concepts.
b. A demonstrated understanding of social media tools, best practices and analytics.
c. Excellent writing skills and copywriting experience in a corporate, nonprofit or educational environment.
d. High attention to detail, consistent reliable follow through and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and meet established deadlines.
e. Must have excellent computer skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
4. Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be accepted.
5. Must be able to push/pull/lift/carry 50-75 pounds.
6. Must be at least 21 years old.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
1. Photography and/or video experience.
2. Graphic design experience.
3. Strong motivational and management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Social Media/Digital:
a. Formulates and execute strategies utilizing social media tools to promote programs and services, and increase online community awareness and engagement.
b. Assist in managing, maintaining and monitoring Kroc Center Hawaii’s social media presence, including but not limited to development of strong content reflective of Kroc Center Hawaii.
c. Prepare and analyze reports pertaining to social media campaigns and activities.
d. Website maintenance to include regular and seasonal information updates and marketing materials posted through the Kroc Center Hawaii website. Responsible for research, analysis and reporting on internet trends and providing recommendations to keep the website competitive.
e. Assist in updating My Kroc mobile online sales site.
f. Assist with development and execution of an email marketing plan in alignment with and support of departmental and organizational goals.
2. Administrative Support:
a. Photography/video activities for Kroc Center Hawaii and The Salvation Army on-site events and programs, utilizing, distributing and archiving images. Work with photographic and graphic images and templates, ensuring digital files for printers are clean and error-free. Ensures compliance with The Salvation Army’s requirements on photo/video release.
b. Copywriting and editing of content for all printed and online publications and press releases.
c. Participating in the planning, development, and execution of special events through regular meetings and feedback.
3. Expected to write and share stories for internal and external public relations including but not limited to special events and activities coverage on a regular basis.
4. Work with departmental staff to accomplish organizational and departmental goals.
5. Accurate and precise handling of qualitative and quantitative data.
6. Able to work weekends/evening hours as needed, and must have willingness and ability to travel.
7. Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
8. Perform special projects as assigned. Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
9. Provide regular reporting verbally and in presentation format on all of the above activities.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; traveling by airplane. This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be indoors at the RJKCCC administration office and Divisional Headquarters. Attendance at trainings and conferences, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required. Extensive travel is possible, including air travel, driving long distances, night driving, overnight travel, and extended travel of three days or more.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:
Equipment used includes general office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, printers, fax machines, telephone, microphones, audio-visual equipment and 10-key calculator.

LICENSES:
The candidate selected for this position must have a valid driver’s license and insured transportation. On an annual basis, employees are required to participate in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program.
