POSITION: Food Pantry Assistant
SUPERVISOR: Director of Social Services
DEPARTMENT: Family Services
STATUS: Non-exempt; Full Time (40 hours/week)

The Family Services Food Pantry Assistant is responsible with assisting the Food Pantry Coordinator for the overall condition and operation of the Family Services Food Pantry inside and out. The Food Pantry Assistant will also provide support to the Food Pantry Coordinator in administrative duties related to client intake, food purchase and food inventory.
1. Support the organization, set up, maintenance and cleanup of the Food Pantry, Bread Room, storage
containers inside and outside refrigerator and freezer units to ensure safety of these areas and equipment.
2. Support the daily distribution of food boxes.
3. Assist Food Pantry Coordinator in executing all food handling procedures.
4. Support the Food Pantry Coordinator in managing of documents and paperwork, including food
inventory and food log sheets.
5. Assist Food Pantry Coordinator in preparing and submitting daily/weekly reports.
6. Keeping accurate records of the amount of food coming in and out each month
7. Work in conjunction with the Food Pantry helper to keep Food Pantry organized and stocked.
8. Sanitize and wipe down all areas.
9. Keep area, inside and outside of Social Services, clean and orderly, eliminating any safety hazards.
10. Assist with loading and unloading of truck, when necessary
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
• Fork Lift Certified preferred or must have the ability to get certified upon being hired.
• Properly use hand-trucks or pallet jack for all heavy items
• Basic administrative skills including, but not limited to computer literate in Microsoft Office, filing, phone and email, use of office machines, record keeping and data entry.
• Self -motivated with the ability to see what needs to be done and to follow through until all work is satisfactorily completed. Follow through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work with other staff members and volunteers a must
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• Ability to multi-task and set priorities
• Must have good communication and organizational skills
• Must be a team-player
• Valid California driver’s license a plus.

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, knee and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push and pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead
• Ability to operate a telephone
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
