Scope of Position:
Treating all those receiving services with dignity and understanding, the worker implements the rules of the programs fairly and equitably.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Have office and people skills. The front desk is the hub of the facility the worker will need to be alert and ready to do multiple tasks.
Familiar with office equipment, telephone, fax, copier and computer, lotus notes, bridges program.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The ability to speak and read the English Language. The individual should have crisis intervention and non-violent mediation skills. The individual needs great people skills making all fill very welcome and cared for. The individual hired for this position cannot participate in any form of substance abuse or show evidence of abuse while performing their duties or while present on Salvation Army property. The individual must show respect for other employees, associates, and clients, and the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army

The ability to follow direction and daily task as well as maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule. Able to address multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner.
Pass on information in a timely correct manner.
Keep good records on the day to day coming and going of all.


Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hand to finger, hand, or feel objects, tools, or controls; to talk or hear; reach with hands and arms; stand, bend squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Work outdoors occasionally, sometimes in inclement weather.

Working Conditions:
Works on many projects at once with interruptions and noise from ringing telephones, printers, copiers, and walk-in traffic, multiple deadlines, and competing priorities. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.
Organizes projects, sets priorities, calculates, catalogues, inspects, analyzes, plans, comprehends, and cooperates with others, etc.

1. Provide inside and outside security and safety of the building, as well as the Clients. Using the cameras and locked front door to make this happen.
2. Know and consistently and fairly enforce facility rules.
3. Maintain ongoing professional relationship in all interpersonal contacts. Mediate or help to direct clients that have problems.
4. Maintain all program materials in an appropriate manner.
5. Secures assigned front desk keys.
Familiarize yourself with, and follow, all The Salvation Army policies
6. Familiarize yourself with client/house rules.
7. Receive and route inquiries and messages, inter-office notes and program materials as appropriate.
8. Refer clients to appropriate staff when they present a need.
9. Assist other staff to get program objectives done.
10. Fill out and maintain front desk paper work.
11. Familiarize yourself with front desk policy and procedures.
12. Must remain awake and alert at all times while on the job for the safety and security of the clients.
13. Check in new clients.
14. Keep the front desk clean.
15. Check in any visitors.
16. Answer the phone and rout callers or take massages.
17. Help keep the calendar for staff and outside agent’s working in the facility.
18. Report all concerns and incidents to supervisor.
19. When requested by your supervisor, participate as a member of the Veterans & Family Center Safety Committee.
Other –
1. Attend all staff meetings assigned.
2. Performs any other duties as assigned.


Work with minimum supervision and work involves a high degree of independence.
May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests and / or timelines.
