General Statement

Essential Functions
1. Meet with students on a one-to-one, small-group, drop-in, or classroom tutoring format(s) to give learning assistance.
2. Review tutor contract with each student to establish the parameters of the tutoring relationship and progress reports.
3. Must have basic knowledge of computers and basic programs. Must have a strong grasp of Math and English to tutor elementary, Jr. High, and High School students.
4. Promote all Reading clubs to meet their requirements and engage in keeping all youth active in reading.
5. Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
6. Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality and must have appropriate and professional behavior at all times.
7. Implement evening tutoring program for high school age youth and Coordinate Teen programs (Leadership, Leo’s and Teen Club). Tue & Thurs. 6:30p.m. – 8:00 p.m. LAYLC every second Monday of the month (6-8pm)
8. Records statistics of assigned program activities, and submits grant data and reports, maintain progress summaries.
9. Supports and works closely with Computer Instructor and other staff when needed.
10. Report all accidents and facility safety concerns to Program Director.
11. Instruct, supervise and support volunteers that attend the community service program.
12. Maintain proper conduct of all youth participating in the program by constantly being aware of potential dangers and correcting behavior.
13. Assist with additional duties as needed such as organizing materials, performing other clerical duties and/or supervise other program areas for the safety and ongoing of the Youth Center.
14. Maintain, personnel, members and other information work related confidential.
15. Must understand the philosophy, Program Standards, Protecting the Mission Policies of The
Salvation Army.

Requirements 1. Must have a valid First Aid/CPR certification
2. High School DiplomaAA Degree in General Education

3. Driving Test and clean MVR check (if applicable).
4 If working in vicinity of children a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures
