Qualifications:
1. Education – High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Work/Professional Experience – Minimum of one year experience performing custodial duties and minor maintenance.

Scope of Position:
The Building Attendant is responsible for the cleaning, sanitation and general upkeep of the building and contents. The position will also have responsibility for the set-ups and take-downs of furniture and equipment staging needed for the various programs and building uses.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Professional: The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Equipment: Commercial grade cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors. Cleaning tools such as brooms, mops, window cleaners. Various commercial grade cleaning products.

Skills & Abilities:
Ability to use discretion and sound judgment when interacting with others and while making decisions. The ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule, to address multiple projects in a timely manner, and to take projects from beginning through completion. The ability to be responsive and detail oriented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting of all interior and exterior building surfaces and furnishings.
• Regular cleaning and sanitation of areas including restrooms, shower rooms, locker rooms, fitness areas and kitchen.
• Provide furniture and equipment set-ups and take-downs in support of various programs and building uses.
• Regular removal of trash, litter and recyclables.
• Regular cleaning and sweeping of exterior areas including sidewalks, paved areas, and landscaping.
• Provide minor and routine maintenance and repairs to building systems.
• Maintain appropriate inventories of cleaning products, supplies and products such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps throughout the facility.
• Maintain the appearance and functionality of the facilities and grounds components including doors, windows, flooring, roofing, walls, ceilings and furnishings.
• Maintain records of cleaning, service and repair of building systems.
• Respond to requests and assignments that may be made on the Building Attendant. Flexibility and a cooperative spirit are crucial characteristics of the individual who holds this important position.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be well groomed and adhere to the required dress code.
• Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminishing performance.
• Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, push, pull, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, close vision, distance vision, talk, hear, have-eye hand coordination, have manual dexterity, speak and read, and working in noisy areas, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position.

Working Conditions:
May walk or stand on varied surfaces. May require work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. May require working on ladder or lift must not be afraid of heights.

Miscellaneous:
