Description Position Title: Christmas Ambassador (Formerly Bellringer)

Position Summary:
You are representing The Salvation Army as you stand at the Kettle and your conduct is critical to our mutual success. Your manner and attitude can make the difference between no donation and a substantial donation.

Essential Functions:
• Ring the bell gently to acknowledge a donation. Please be aware of the shops around you and avoid aggressively ringing the bell.
• Express your appreciation each time you receive a donation. Be grateful and remember to say “thank you”.
• Never leave the kettle unattended for any reason during work hours
• Ensure you take scheduled breaks and meal periods at which time the kettle should be secured in designated location.
• Be punctual and committed to working your assigned shift.
• Report to work on time. Wear the identification, including any special clothing provided by The Salvation Army during work hours.
• Make eye contact and be attentive. Try and make a connection with as many individuals as possible. Have a joyful attitude to perspective donors.
• Agree and abide by all rules, regulations, and instructions provided by the Kettle Supervisor and The Salvation Army.
• Be sure you do not obstruct the flow of traffic at any Kettle location
• Do not change the location of a kettle. The kettle coordinator has worked hard to place the kettle at a strategic location that meets the approval of the local store manager

Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
• Able to provide own transportation to and from kettle site preferred.
• Clean and neat appearance.
• Meet uniform requirements.
• Available for all shifts as outlined.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
• Ability to stand long periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must possess excellent customer relations skills
• Must be reliable and work independently
• Flexibility in availability a plus.

Working Conditions:
Ability to walk, bend, squat, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to stand on a continual basis for up to 5 hours at a time. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead. Ability to lift and carry objects such as kettle stand and up to 25 lbs., Ability to ring bell continuously for up to 5 hours at a time
