Description Duties and Responsibilities

Generate electrical and automation installation bid specifications, perform installation, inspection, maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and electrical equipment used in automation systems associated with natural gas processing plants, compression facilities, automated wellhead operations, production equipment and liquid pumping stations. Compliance and enforcement of company, safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations as they apply. Performing other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

Requires: Working in a team oriented environment; working under stressful conditions associated with critical project deadlines; will often work alone and with minimal supervision; will be required to work in various temperature conditions; in and/or around moisture, on slippery and/or uneven surfaces, in confined spaces, and at heights; will require frequent standing, driving a 4-wheel drive vehicle, and occasional bending, squatting, climbing, twisting, balancing, and reaching; will have exposure to noise, vibrations, well-treating chemicals, glycol, methanol, gasoline, natural gas, and liquid hydrocarbons; may require irregular or extended hours; subject to being on call; and travel for project completion.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of: AC and DC electrical theory including low voltage distribution and generation; motor controls including variable frequency drives; application of the NEC; application of API RP 500 Codes with specific emphasis concerning hazardous locations; ISA standards; electrical, automation and instrument systems.

• Skill in: electrical construction techniques; scientific trouble shooting techniques; the use of various power, voltage and current measurement equipment; test instruments; basic computer skills using Excel & MS Word and the use of various hand tools.

• Ability to: supervise and inspect electrical contractors; generate and evaluate electrical installation bids; adapt to new ideas/technology; read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and P&ID’s; effectively interact with customers, government agencies, sales representatives, engineers; work with and inspect contractors to assure company standards are achieved; effectively communicate orally and in writing; be courteous to co-workers and customers; follow directions from supervisors; generate purchase requisitions and code invoices; lift items weighing up to 75 lbs.; hear; see objects at close range and in the distance; distinguish colors and relationship between objects.

• Requirements: Must have a valid “Journeyman Electrician” license issued by a state Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety. Medium voltage experience; instrument experience; oil and gas processing experience or a Master Electrician license, any or all are highly preferred. Must possess valid driver’s license; have regular attendance and adhere to all policies established by the company including the QEP Resources Business Ethics and Compliance Policy.
