Description This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating QEP’s AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) process. This position will be responsible for AFE system processes and issues. This will include escalating finance system issues to IT and working with the entire business to develop and implement business processes on go-forward basis to be able to optimize system reporting and processes. This position will also work with various teams to ensure that AFE’s are closed and supplemented in accordance with the company policies. Strong people and accounting skills are a requirement. The ideal candidate will have specific knowledge of the oil and gas industry and have worked in SAP in the past. The successful candidate will have exceptional financial, systems and analytical skills and also have strong communication and persuasion skills. This individual will be based in Denver and will report to the Director of Operational Accounting. Salary will reflect market rates based on the QEP Resources’ Compensation Plan.
Requirements
Responsibilities
• Responsible for AFE business process including updating the policies and procedures and ensuring system changes are made as needed to the AFE workflow.
• QEP AFE finance project lead for SAP phase 2. This includes ensuring that all enhancements are included in the project requirements, training and assisting in implementation.
• Finance resource to help the business solve AFE issues.
• Ensure all AFE’s are closed on a timely basis. This includes providing reports of open AFE’s and working with the business to close the AFE’s.
• Review AFE’s to ensure they are properly classified as capital vs. expense.
• Ensure all AFE’s that need supplements are updated on a timely basis. This includes providing reports of overspent AFE’s and working with the business to create and approve the supplemental AFE’s.
• Work with the business to review the spending on the AFE’s and record corrections as needed.
• Work with the business to calculate and prepare the monthly capital accrual.
• Work with the financial analysts to provide reporting on capital spending.
• Proven financial and analytical ability.
• Customer service oriented with the ability to balance competing demands.
• Reviews and understands the compilation and analysis of financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
• Assist with special projects, as required
