Title HSE Field Representative

Description We are looking for a dynamic, can do individual to support our High Plains operations. The successful candidate will be our local HSE resource supporting operations in the field. The position will be located in Parshall, ND and report to the Manager-HSE for QEP Energy. This position is an opportunity to develop and grow an HSE career in an active oil and gas area of the country.

General Duties:

•Review current practices and facilitate development of HSE procedures in accordance with the QEP HSE Management System standards.

•Participate in corporate HSE audits and provide support for field inspection and review programs.

•Facilitate/participate in root-cause analyses to determine incident causes and recommendations to eliminate or mitigate identified causes.

•Contact agencies and prepare reports on routine HSE matters; accompany agencies on routine inspections.

•Assist operations, maintenance, drilling and their technical personnel on routine HSE matters.

•Conduct site specific HSE training, including new hire orientation and ongoing HSE training defined by our training program.

•Coordinate field safety meetings.

•Facilitate emergency response drills.

•Facilitate hazard identification reviews as part of the risk management standard.

•Coordinate reviews of HSE data to assure reporting is consistent and trends are identified.

•Represent QEP in cooperative organizations (spill response, contractor training programs).

•Facilitate environmental monitoring as required by permits and programs (SARA Title 3, SPCC, SWPPP, Air Quality, DMRs, etc).

•Coordinate waste disposal process as defined in the QEP waste management standard.

•Coordinate Industrial Hygiene monitoring programs as required by the QEP HSE Management System.

•Work closely with regional HSE engineers/specialists to ensure regional operations are compliant.
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years oil and gas experience in an HSE support function.
  • Experience interpreting internal and/or external standards and applying to field operations.
  • Experience indentifying and developing training for applicable HSE topics.
  • Experience in emergency response; ISC, planning, response, drills and training.
  • Basic understanding of HSE regulations applicable to oil and gas production and drilling in the U.S.

Critical Skills:

  • Computer skills:  Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic understanding of upstream operations; understanding of business drivers for HSE performance improvement.
  • Coaching/mentoring skills; ability to influence others.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Problem solving; self-direct/takes initiative.
  • Communication skills:  ability to communicate effectively at various levels of the organization.
