The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for designing the processes and technologies required to implement, support, organize, modify, and otherwise maintain LME’s computer systems as they relate to end user devices (workstations and other endpoints). In collaboration with system and network administrators, you will design, implement, and enforce standards through server centric tools to manage endpoints. You will be responsible for standard delivery and maintenance of applications, configurations, and security policies (patches and anti-virus) at the endpoint.  You will continue to define and improve the enterprise endpoint reference architecture.  The position is expected to manage endpoints in a hybrid environment consisting of thin clients with virtualized desktops, physical PC workstations with local and domain managed profiles, and end user BYOD mobility.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, creative problem solver. The role is responsible for the platform and methodologies of PC Desktop Support including some hands on problem solving but will also have mid-level MS Server, VMWare and network support responsibilities. Flexibility in working on a variety of projects and technical support needs is a must.  The position is customer service oriented.  This engineer thrives on working in a fast paced, growing environment with minimum supervision while working well with others and participating as a team player.

A successful Sr. Desktop Engineer will:

  • Be able to work after hours as necessary for general maintenance and on-call support
  • Design, implement, and maintain standard architecture for endpoints utilizing virtualized desktop systems
  • Design, implement, and maintain standard desktop , laptop, tablet, or other endpoint systems and devices
  • Evaluate tickets for ongoing performance improvement opportunities and reduction of endpoint incidents
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot hardware, including desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment.
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot software packages, including operating systems, desktop software and custom applications.
  • Manage image and patch deployment using centralized enterprise desktop management systems
  • Make recommendations for future upgrades
  • Maintain end point security through patching tools
  • Monitor systems to ensure security, availability and performance.
  • Work with network and server teams to help deploy and maintain critical infrastructure
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills to build service-based relationships with Information Technology customers.
  • Be able to exercise good judgment in resolving problems and making decisions.
  • Be available 24x7 for emergencies involving technical problems that affect the ability to provide patient care and business continuity.
  • Be available for rotation assignments for on-call support duties.
  • Adhere to organizational change management processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration or equivalent (6 years +) work experience
  • 6+ years of experience with PC support in a Windows environment
  • Windows OS and software troubleshooting skills
  • Mobile device management experience including various mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure troubleshooting skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of best practices for imaging and application packaging,
  • Thorough understanding of hardware and peripherals with experience supporting Microsoft operating systems in a networked environment; Windows 7 and above.
  • Experience and skill administering enterprise Microsoft SCCM
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • 3+ years of experience with Active Directory and GPO management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and ability to manage own time effectively
  • Strong organization skills
