You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely sales and use tax return filings, performing tax research, and other special projects. A successful Tax Compliance Manager will:

  • Review transaction tax returns for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings including sales and use, business and occupation, gross receipts taxes
  • Ensure related tax payments are made in a timely fashion
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with tax related statutes, regulations and legislation including income type taxes
  • Prepare for and assist with transaction tax audits
  • Researches, analyzes and stays current and up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.  Uses research findings to ensure conclusions and strategies are consistent with professional standard; executes strategies.
  • Efficiently researches tax technical issues involving multiple state and local tax jurisdictions
  • Perform research of transaction tax laws and regulations to provide supported and sound conclusions to tax issues
  • Monitor competitor websites
  • Analyze, recommend and implement initiatives to streamline sales and use tax processes
  • Ensure accurate tax information is communicated to other team members, other departments and tax consultants
  • Complies with all internal controls
  • Stays informed with tax industry updates and revisions
  • Actively promotes best practices and processes
  • Able to identify potential planning strategies applicable to tax issues
  • Works on special tax projects as needed
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of five years of state and local tax experience
  • 3 + years of experience within the Tax function of a large corporation or public accounting firm
  • Familiarity with state income taxes preferred
  • CPA and/or Masters of Science degree in Taxation required
  • Expertise using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Proven  organizational  and project management skills
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under stress and manage multiple projects/complex issues simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work cohesively with others across the enterprise and with various levels of management
  • Self-starter
