Reporting Relationships

  • Assistant Vice President, Marketing reports to the Vice President and Chief Marketing & Growth Officer.

 

General Summary

  • The Assistant Vice President role is both a thought and active leadership role – lift up your head and see the optimum path forward and roll-up-your-sleeves and get the work done. The Assistant Vice President will be responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing marketing strategy to strengthen the CPS brand, support the delivery of an optimal CPS experience, and achieve marketing targets.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Leads and inspires the marketing teams, including external agency and partners, to achieve marketing goals and business objectives.
  • Defines and implements marketing strategy to align with the overall CPS vision, mission, values and strategy; ensure consideration of key audiences (e.g., employees, ministries, members, vendors) and channels for messaging (e.g., digital, print, social media, events, intranet).
  • Leads and oversees multiple facets of marketing initiatives: marketing strategic planning, digital strategies, social media, brand management, events, B2B and B2C marketing, sales enablement.
    • Ensures articulation and consistency of desired brand image and position across all stakeholder groups (internal and external).
    • Defines and drives digital strategies to strengthen CPS brand and enable delivery of optimal CPS Experience.
    • Works cross-functionally with other leaders and teams to support holistic execution of brand strategy and the CPS Experience.
  • Responsible for the messaging, editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all marketing and sales enablement materials.
  • Leverages data and analytics to drive insights; develop and implement metrics to measure results of marketing strategies; provide analyses and recommendations to support continuous growth.
  • Through strong, highly collaborative relationships across all CPS functions, ensures marketing strategies are aligned with, and supportive of, overall CPS growth plan, including development and execution of those strategies.
  • Manages Marketing budget allowing CPS to control costs and ensure expenditures are value-added.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in both B2C and B2B marketing

 

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, brand, product and service management; preferably in the employee benefits or healthcare environment.
  • Proven expertise in all aspects of marketing, digital strategy, writing and leadership.
  • Digital marketing and social media expertise.
  • Understanding of metrics and ROI techniques for measuring marketing effectiveness.
  • Ability to analyze the organization’s competitive position by considering market and industry trends, existing and potential customers (internal and external), and strengths and weaknesses as compared to competitors.
  • Is energized by and adapts easily to change; welcomes new opportunities; personal maturity to evaluate and manage uncertainty and stress effectively. Ability to initiate, sponsor and implement change with sensitivity to tradition and history.
  • Steadfastly pushes self and team for results, prioritizing and executing tasks effectively with minimal supervision; maintains focus on organizational goals.
