Organization Profile

The primary mission of the LCEF/CEF is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.  In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments.  Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following:  To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

 

Reporting Relationships

  • The Regional Vice President reports to the Sr. Vice President, District & National Operations.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • The Regional Vice President will serve on the District & National Operations Leadership Team.
  • Primarily responsible for all aspects of LCEF operations within assigned regional area.
  • In close cooperation with the District Vice Presidents, develop and nurture tangible relationships with the Pastor(s), ministers and key lay leaders of select congregations within assigned region; develop and nurture tangible relationships with District Presidents within assigned region; develop and nurture tangible relationships with key leadership at the Concordia Universities and LCMS Seminaries within assigned region.  Assist LCEF National Lending as needed to develop and maintain tangible relationships with key Recognized Service Organizations and other educational ministries within assigned region.
  • Job functions include:  development of tactics needed to meet assigned regional goals in support of strategic direction as articulated by District & National Operations.  In collaboration with the Sr. Vice President, District & National Operations, recruit, hire, train and mentor District Vice Presidents to adequately staff regional field force.  Establish measurable performance objectives for and conduct periodic and annual reviews on the regional office staff and the District Vice Presidents within the assigned region. 
  • Oversee District budget process working collaboratively with the District Vice Presidents to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet LCEF's ministry and business objectives while adhering to organizational stewardship and efficiency requirements.  Work closely with the Regional Marketing Manager to facilitate preparation of the annual regional marketing budget.
  • Responsible for overall management of the region's loan portfolio.  Collaborate and provide guidance on all major loan opportunities/transactions with the respective District Vice President to ensure competent and professional management of these prospects is achieved.  Working through and with the Manager, Regional Loans & Finance, the District Vice Presidents, the Loan Resolution Group and the LCEF Loan Department, monitor and proactively address delinquent, impaired and/or troubled situations to ensure consistent and productive action is taken.
  • In close collaboration with the Vice President, Ministry Support, ensure timely and efficient communication between Ministry Support, the regional office and the District Vice Presidents in order to provide the highest level of professionalism and service to the congregations, schools and other ministries of the LCMS.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Vice President, District & National Operations.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in management, marketing, public relations, finance or other related field is required.
  • Ten or more years experience demonstrating effective management and public relations abilities.
  • Preferred candidate will be an active member of an LCMS congregation. 
  • Previous experience as an LCEF District Vice President is preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and of Church Extension work.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Superior small and large group presentation skills. 
  • Ability to oversee multi-district and regional budget preparations.
  • Demonstrated skills as a successful team leader with a highly collaborative style. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and personnel across a multi-district region. 
  • Strong competence as a relationship builder. 
  • Ministry focus with an equally keen awareness of fiscal responsibility is mandatory, balancing the need to support the ministries of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod with the need to meet the financial objectives of the LCEF.
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule that can include weekend and evening work with a special emphasis on Sunday mornings. 
  • Out-of-town, overnight travel is required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • The Regional Vice President will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Regional Office staff and the deployed District Vice Presidents within their assigned region.
