Organization Profile

The primary mission of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness and outreach of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following:  provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; rostered church worker education; the residential housing needs of rostered church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

Reporting Relationships

The Director, Field Marketing reports to the Sr. Vice President, Marketing and Customer Experience.

Essential Job Functions

The Director of Field Marketing works cross-functionally, gathering insight from ministry facing teams to create and implement our ministry marketing strategy focused on achieving our retention and growth goals. The Director of Field Marketing will lead a team of marketers seen as the catalyst for growth, using a customer-centric approach across all major marketing and sales enablement functions in a B2B landscape.


  • Develop long-term marketing plans aligned with the customer segments, journeys and personas for our ministry contacts.
  • Monitor industry trends (e.g. industry regulations, technology trends, macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges) and terminology, and act as an industry subject matter expert
  • Work with peers to plan and conduct market and customer research that helps optimize marketing performance.
  • Collaborate with ministry facing teams in LCEF to use their insights in developing marketing and sales enablement plans, campaigns and content that achieves our growth goals.
  • Develop and leverage an in-depth understanding of customer needs within the segment/industry.
  • Work with field teams to identify priority target accounts, and lead development of account-based marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Collaborate in the development of ministry contact buyer journeys and personas, using them to inform marketing planning and optimization.
  • Lead ongoing optimizations of marketing plans and campaigns based on insights from marketing analysis and research.
  • Supervise three regional marketing managers responsible for sales and investment enablement planning and implementation in the areas they serve. You will lead to enable sellers in the regions and develop sales content that achieves growth goals.
  • Work closely with creative services team to develop and socialize key marketing assets and sales support tools.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, or communications.
  • Advanced degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in B2B marketing, including plan development and management.
  • Significant understanding of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and its organization.

  • Ability to navigate effectively in highly regulated industry and with complex organizations required; experience navigating LCMS structure and operations.

Supervisory Responsibility

Director, Field Marketing will lead and supervise a team of three Regional Marketing Managers.
