The Mission Advancement unit of the LCMS works closely with Synod’s Communications unit to support the mission and ministry efforts of the Office of National Mission, the Office of International Mission, and Pastoral Education which all report to the Chief Mission Officer. The Chief Mission Officer, on behalf of the President, shall supervise fundraising activity of the national office according to the policies established by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

 

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Manager – Gifts by Phone Telecare Center

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide daily telephone contact to donors, prospects, congregations, clergy, lay leaders and institutions regarding financial support, follow-up information and acknowledgement of gifts or general call assignments. 
  • Answers questions and inquiries from donors, prospects, congregations, clergy, lay leaders and institution calls regarding LCMS programs; be able to direct those parties to appropriate sources should more information be desired or necessary. 
  • Provide database information, updates and/or donor concerns or questions on a daily basis to supervisory staff.  Enter/update caller demographic/biographic/gift history data into database.  Investigate complaints/issues/unresolved problems.
  • Relates to donors, prospects, congregations, clergy and lay leaders, as well as LCMS staff.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience in soliciting donations over the telephone preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Pleasant telephone voice and presence.  High degree of integrity, self-sufficiency, energetic personality with ability to relate easily with a variety of donors, prospects, clergy and lay leadership.  Excellent oral communication skills.  Familiarity with the LCMS and LCMS national ministries.
