Organization Profile

The primary mission of the LCEF is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.  In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of notes and other debt instruments.  Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following:  To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers, and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of Synod.

Essential Job Functions

The Loan Servicing Specialist I is responsible for reviewing Commercial and Consumer loan documentation and entering and maintaining critical data in the Banking System; Responsible for maintaining and monitoring adequate insurance coverage for LCEF’s secured loan portfolio; Responsible for payment processing, loan disbursements, maintaining credit ratings, and special projects; and ensuring the confidence of LCEF’s borrowers by accurately and promptly responding to their needs and concerns.

  • Responsible for reviewing, approving, & processing loan closing documentation on various types of loans for key data to be entered into the Banking System.
  • Responsible for verifying, updating, and maintaining accurate insurance coverage and property records in core system.
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from clients including borrowers, districts, and institutions.
  • Responsible for verification of MyAccount transactions and/or ACH and PAT payments as it relates to loans.
  • Assist with the annual preparation of 1098’s.
  • Assist with special projects and reports as needed.
  • Assist with system testing related to software releases to the Banking System.
  • Assist with CEF Districts merging with LCEF.
  • Assist with Rebate Programs check distribution and related correspondence reports.
  • Complies with revision made from time to time in position description.

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Business or equivalent education or experience in the banking or finance industry.
  • Two years of experience working in a banking environment, preferably a loan focus.

  • Ability to work in a team environment with other team members and units.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex loan documents, loan sale and participation agreements, and understand requirements in those documents.
  • Approve, write-up, and process commercial and consumer loan files.
  • Assist with special projects and management reports.
  • Ability and eagerness to learn all aspects/functions of the Loan Operations department, regardless of current responsibilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain high level of integrity and be customer oriented.
  • Continuation of self-development through appropriate educational programs.
