Organization Profile

The primary mission of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness and outreach of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments. Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following:  provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; rostered church worker education; the residential housing needs of rostered church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

Reporting Relationships

Manager, Synod Relations reports to the Senior VP, Marketing.

 

Essential Job Functions

An experienced strategic mind to manage, build and maintain connections across The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) with the purpose to contribute to a lead generation funnel. This role has a high degree of visibility and it requires abilities in multiple areas, including public relations, event planning, thought leadership and relationship management.

  • Identify, develop, build and manage connections with prominent key influencers and thought leaders in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS).
  • Develop joint strategies to leverage events that increase the number of ministries, workers and members who use LCEF products and services.
  • Generate and record information and data to share within the organization to fine tune practices and relationships while pinpointing additional opportunities.
  • Lead, evaluate, recommend, implement and refine strategies for enhancing mutually-beneficial relationships.
  • Effectively represent and articulate LCEF products and services across LCMS.
  • Drive and brainstorm new, creative approaches to working closer with the influential members of the LCMS and serve as a go-to resource to the rest of the marketing team about the Synod.
  • Consistently archive and share interactions, actions, opportunities and evaluations of activities for future analysis, forecasting and planning.
  • Proactively remain knowledgeable of LCEF marketing initiatives, especially major announcements, content creation and how to integrate events and influencer strategies with those plans.
  • Generate and manage quality leads and new relationships gathered at conferences and events.
  • Anticipate and analyze public opinion or issues that might impact the operations and plans of the organization in collaboration with the Senior Vice President and team.
  • Collaborate and assist in planning sessions and coordination of large events and conferences.
  • Manage, develop and implement plans, timelines and logistics for events, including marketing elements, attendance and communication with groups.
  • Create and maintain active district volunteer structure as needed by district.
  • Direct and implement multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel to events, districts and regional offices to help lead, assist and partner on projects and events.
  • Attend conferences and sponsored events on the behalf of the organization.
  • Be a strong mouthpiece and seek out opportunities where LCEF can sustain presence.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Must be a member of an LCMS congregation.
  • Have significant understanding of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and its organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, public relations or communications is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, event planning or public relations field, with a strong emphasis in maintaining working relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Excellent initiator with time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Strong grammar, proof reading and text editing skills.
  • Must be willing to travel. Willing to work evenings and weekends when needed for events.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
