  • Concordia Plan Services ‘walks together’ with LCMS ministries by providing quality products and services that support the physical and financial health of members and their families, and the financial health of ministries.

  • Reports to the Chief Operating Officer

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees the day-to-day functions of CPS’s Risk Management Services unit
  • Sets and oversees execution of the strategy for the two current Commercial Insurance consortiums managed by the Risk Management Services unit—the Concordia University System consortium, and the LCMS Corporate Entities consortium.   In this capacity, the incumbent will:
    1. Work with CPS account managers to develop and maintain customer contacts with senior leaders responsible for commercial insurance at each participating LCMS entity
    2. Anticipate the commercial insurance needs of each participating entity and work with the broker to deliver appropriate solutions
    3. Have Primary Relationship Manager responsibility for managing the two brokers-of-record for the two consortiums, to include:
      1. Assuring the brokers deliver high-quality services under their respective agreements
      2. Working with the brokers to anticipate and deliver commercial insurance solutions that address the risk profiles of consortium entities
      3. Analyzing and discussing alternative risk financing alternatives with consortium entity leaders aligned with member institution’s objectives
      4. Gathering and remitting member entity underwriting information needed for soliciting renewal proposals
      5. Identifying opportunities to manage the overall cost of risk through Loss Prevention and Safety programs as well as Claims Management programs
    4. Organize and lead meetings/conference calls to discuss renewal alternatives with, and gain consensus among participating entity leaders prior each renewal
    5. Develop, implement and oversee Safety, Loss Prevention and Claims Management programs as appropriate for each consortium program and its member entities
    6. Develop strategies to attract non-participating campuses back into the CU-System consortium
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for business-related degrees.  Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Minimum five years’ commercial insurance experience in a customer serving/problem-solving capacity. 
  • Experience managing/consulting with multi-entity commercial insurance consortiums preferred. 
  • ARM or CPCU designation a plus. 
  • Experience managing staff and business-to-business relationships preferred.
