The LCMS Foundation is looking for a social media intern. This internship will support and learn from a team focused on reshaping the Foundation’s marketing approach, so that the organization can reach its overall goals in planned gift production, ministry relationships and investments managed by our organization. The ideal candidate should love social media, including how it can be used to build and express brands, create new customers and build stronger relationships with existing customers. The candidate should also have an interest in applying a data-driven approach to testing, measuring and reporting on new social media campaigns and tactics. This internship will play a key role in helping implement the Foundation’s marketing strategy to strengthen the brand and deliver an optimal donor experience.


Essential Job Functions

  • Help expand the LCMS Foundation’s presence on key social media sites with engaging and inspiring content
  • Help create social media campaigns and initiatives that create brand awareness, and a better understanding of the services the LCMS Foundation provides
  • Help integrate social media into larger, integrated campaigns that nurture prospects and retain current donors and investors
  • Study social media best practices, case studies and tutorials and share learnings with the Foundation marketing team
  • Research new social media tactics and strategies and make recommendations on campaigns to test and pilot
  • Research competitors and other organizations to evaluate their approach and opportunities that the LCMS Foundation should be considering
  • Internship will take place from June 1st through July 31st

Education and Experience

Applicants should be Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or Communications majors


Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Strong understanding of the top social media platforms, including their core audiences and best use of their platforms
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with co-workers, prioritize activities, and keep multiple projects on-schedule
  • The ability to think strategically and develop new, but data-driven social media initiatives
