Reporting Relationships

  • Health & Wellness Educator reports to Director of Worker Wellness.


Essential Job Functions

  • Through presentations, conferences and interpersonal contacts, instructs and encourages LCMS church workers about the importance of body, mind, and spiritual stewardship.
  • Coordinates the Wellness Champion program:
    • Writes content (emails, planning booklets, etc.).
    • Conducts Zoom meetings and conference calls with Wellness Champions as needed.
    • Works with Marketing to implement and distribute Wellness Champions materials.
    • Assists with planning of Synod-wide “Challenges” and implements those challenges.
  • Directs the Concordia Plan Services internal Wellness Champion strategy.
  • Conducts Health and Wellness orientations with new International Center employees.
  • Serves as a member of the IC Wellness Committee to assist the International Center Human Resources department in their efforts to promote wellness at the IC and LCEF.
  • Proactively researches and identifies educational and presentation opportunities throughout the Synod.
  • Raises awareness of CPS programs and services by participating in employer-sponsored health fairs and community-based programs.
  • Serves as the primary resource for members for physical and emotional wellness-related programs to support engagement and participation in healthy lifestyles.
  • Assists in the creating and developing of wellness educational material.
  • Travel required, 30%.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a health and wellness field, wellness promotion, public health or other related field.
  • Experience with health and wellness communications and marketing, required. 
  • Experience in public speaking, required.
  • Experience in employee benefits, not-for-profit or faith-based organizations, preferred.
