Reporting Relationships

Marketing Director, Employer Growth reports to the Assistant Vice President, Marketing.


General Summary

As Director of Employer Growth, you will be responsible for developing - and telling - a story about CPS products and services as solutions for ministries and employers. This position develops the B2B marketing strategy and plan on behalf of CPS, collaborates on the development of marketing resources (internal and external) to carry out the plan (promote/inform/engage/implement), and ensures that sales and business development resources understand what the ministries need and want. The Director of Employer Growth will work cross-functionally, unifying and motivating peers from different teams (e.g. products, member marketing, sales). 


Essential Job Functions

  • Develop marketing plans and provide thought leadership for how the segment / industry will be expressed to the marketplace including situation analysis, identifying opportunities and/or the problem we need to solve, audience demographics, timing, goals and key messaging.
  • Monitors industry trends (e.g. industry regulations, technology trends, macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges) and terminology, and act as an industry subject matter expert
  • Works with Market Research to conduct market and customer research to gather data and insight about target personas, messages and themes and overall market position
  • Collaborates with the growth and business development teams to leverage their insights and ensure optimal ministry outreach and engagement.
  • Ensure employer marketing plans support the major themes that will be communicated into target markets, buyers, the industry landscape and key issues. Interprets and presents analysis for employer marketing channels and uses the learnings to make adjustments. 
  • Curates content in the employer vernacular (e.g. playbooks, case studies, blog posts, sales training materials).
  • Interacts across functional areas to develop content and to ensure department objectives are met.  
  • Works closely with creative services team to develop and socialize key marketing assets and sales support tools; provides strategy plan from which Creatives write/design/develop tactics. 
  • Enables sales team to sell more via appropriate knowledge transfer and content programs-increasing sales productivity. Work with the appropriate subject-matter-experts and sales training and enablement teams to understand and communicate sales engagement models to drive faster sales adoption of new offerings. Enable sellers and develop sales content and activities for direct and indirect sales.
  • Leads and develops team performance for direct CPS employees; performance management, coaching, evaluating, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, required. 
  • Advanced degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in B2B marketing, including strategy plan development and management.
  • Experience in employee benefits, insurance or benefit consulting, preferred.
