The Billing Services Specialist serves as an in-house point of contact for at-risk employers who may need CPS support during a time of financial distress.  Uses a ‘case management’ approach, this person provides ongoing solutions and issue resolution to facilitate payment and ensure mutually agreeable outcomes.


Reporting Relationships

  • Billing Services Representative reports to Manager, Billing Services.


Essential Job Functions

  • Serves as an in-house point of contact for at-risk employers who may need CPS support during a time of financial distress.  Uses a ‘case management’ approach, providing ongoing solutions and issue resolution. 
  • Monitors and analyzes CPS accounts for real and potential delinquency; engages CPS Account Managers/Reps, other CPS team members, LCMS entities and vendors to develop sustainable solutions for at-risk employers.
  • Investigates, suggests, documents, communicates and tracks payment solutions.
  • Builds relationships with employers and provide consultation on payment matters.
  • Prepares reports for senior management showing risk, case progression, escalation and trends; makes recommendations for involuntary withdrawals
  • Takes an active role in the use and application of the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system and Benefit Administration System (BAS).
  • Provides analytical and problem resolution support to Billing and Operations management. 
  • Executes established billing and audit transactions.
  • Collaborates with other CPS team members to resolve billing issues.
  • Provides Billing management with input for reports showing risk, case progression, escalation and trends.
  • Assists with quality assurance of monthly invoices and other departmental data.
  • Provides backup for miscellaneous Billing Services functions as needed. 
  • Consistently meets deadlines. 
  • Works and manages transactions with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience, required.
  • 3 years of general accounting, accounts receivable/billing or benefits (health/retirement/etc), experience, preferred. 
  • Experience managing time-sensitive processes, deadlines, etc., with empathy and compassion.
  • Experience with organization(s) that excel in customer experience, required.


Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Command of systems and collaborative tools; knowledge of MS Office suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Intermediate math / calculation skills.
