Organization Profile

The primary mission of the LCEF/CEF is to provide financial resources and related services for ministry, witness, and outreach of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.  In so doing it shall raise funds primarily through the issuance of corporate notes and other debit instruments.  Its assets shall be used exclusively for the following:  To provide financing and services for the acquisition of sites; the construction of facilities; the purchase of buildings and equipment; operating expenses; professional church worker education; the residential housing needs of professional church workers; and other purposes approved by its governing board consistent with the ministry and mission of the Synod under policies approved by the Board of Directors of the Synod.

 

Reporting Relationships

  • The Manager, Regional Marketing reports to the Director, Regional Marketing and maintains a day-to-day reporting relationship with the Regional Vice President.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • The Manager, Regional Marketing will serve as a member of the Regional Marketing Leadership Team and is primarily responsible for managing the marketing operations throughout assigned region.
  • Working closely with the Regional Vice President and the region's District Vice Presidents, effectively implement the national marketing strategy at the regional and district levels, ensuring full compliance with established brand standards while effectively identifying and utilizing the many district-specific nuances to full advantage during implementation.  Through close collaboration with the District Vice Presidents, actively plan and take the lead on participation in major district events and gatherings (conventions, conferences, workshops, etc.)
  • Under the direction of the Director, Regional Marketing and in close collaboration with the Regional Vice President and the District Vice Presidents, develop and manage the marketing budget for all regional and district promotions.
  • Responsible for initial and ongoing training as well as day-to-day management of the region's volunteer Advocates.  Works closely with District Vice Presidents to facilitate the hand-off of Advocates following recruitment.  Works closely with the Regional Vice President to develop and nurture an enhanced Advocate Program at select congregations and ministries throughout the region.
  • Serves as a primary liaison between the field marketing operations and the national marketing team by close and ongoing collaboration with the Director, Regional Marketing.  Provides ongoing and practical feedback to the Director, Regional Marketing and the Regional Vice President on all aspects of marketing execution within assigned region.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field. 
  • Minimum of five years experience in maketing and/or communicatons field; not-for-profit sector experience is preferred. 
  • Preferred candidate will be an active member of an LCMS congregation.

 

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Significant understanding of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and its organization.
  • Understanding of Church Extension ministry.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated experience writing newsletters, press releases, and event-specific copy.  Effective public speaking, presentation and training skills required.
  • Demonstrated skills as a successful team player with a highly collaborative style.  Must posses the ability to effectively manage multiple projects at a time.  Engaging demeanor that fosters relationship building.
  • Must be fully computer literate with word processing, database management and page layout skills.
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule that can include weekend and evening work with a special emphasis on Sunday mornings.  Out-of-town, overnight travel is required.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • The Manager, Regional Marketing has no supervisory responsibility.
