Reporting Relationships

  • Analyst I reports to Director, Business Analytics / Actuarial Services.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Consults, educates and builds relations with internal CPS staff regarding data request and research findings.
  • Produces and analyzes regular reports to be used in the management of CPS plans, such as quarterly updates of the financial projections of the Plans, statistical reports, and reports that measure the progress of CPS in meeting various organization goals and objectives.
  • Analyzes both financial and non-financial data as requested, such as variance analyses, reconciliation of data, and analysis of various programs.
  • Assists in the development of the annual budget for the benefit plans provided by CPS.
  • Maintains financial, marketing and actuarial databases and models.
  • Assists with reports and data for external consultants, auditors, vendors, and customers as necessary.
  • Supports other CPS departments by:
  • Analyzing programs to determine progress and any necessary changes.
  • Assisting with projects, data analysis, and systems testing as needed.
  • Participates in the following tasks with other CPS departments:
    • Maintains plans and rates on system to ensure agreement with Board approved rates.
    • Tests new systems and processes.
  • Collaborates to solve problems, including the identification of data that may be useful in determining solutions.
  • Reviews vendors’ invoices to ensure they comply with CPS contracts.
  • Prepares and reviews ad hoc reports as necessary.
  • Without direct supervision, is responsible for quality assurance for own work.
  • Occasional travel, required.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS in a mathematics field or business-related discipline. 
  • Two years of related experience.

 

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of database applications, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general mathematics and concepts.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and statistical data.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Uses logic and sound methods to solve difficult problems; is excellent at objective analysis; engages others in analyzing and developing solutions.
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to concepts and principles of the Integrity Service program or similar values-based customer service program; is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Analyst I does not have supervisory responsibilities.
