Organization Profile

Meeting and Reception Services is responsible for providing support services to the entities of the LCMS International Center properties and other corporate organizations of the church in their support of the LCMS mission and ministry objectives.

Meeting and Reception Services provides reception services, meeting planning, administrative, and management services to The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.  These services include providing reception services at the International Center, coordination of group travel, budgeting, air, hotel, food and beverage coordination, meeting planning, ground transfers, account reconciliation and preparation of group history as well as communication to the International Center departments and constituencies.

Reports to the Executive Director, Operations

Essential Job Functions

  • Greets visitors to the LCMS International Center in a friendly, professional and helpful way, serving as a positive contact between the public and the IC staff.
  • Enforces the visitor security policy, ensuring that all visitors sign in and wear a visitor badge.  Ensures an employee escort assumes responsibility for any visitor leaving the reception area.
  • Responsible for the distribution and proper return of visitor, commission and board member badges.
  • Reinforces employee badge policy by verifying all employees entering through the front desk area have their employee ID badges visible.
  • Manages Meeting Room Manager (MRM) system for internal meeting room reservations.
  • Provides administrative support to the Meeting Coordinators to produce resource materials including registration housing forms, travel information, rooming lists, etc.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma, Associates Degree preferred.
  • Three plus years clerical/administrative experience

  • Customer service oriented with exemplary interpersonal akills, personality and attitude that establishes favorable rapport with IC employees and visitors.
  • Uses quick judgment in making emergency calls to police and ambulance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to exercise discretion, good judgment and maintain confidentiality on restricted matters.
