Reporting Relationships

  • Director, Brand Engagement and Communications reports to Assistant Vice President, Marketing. 

 

General Summary

Develops and oversees communications strategies to support company’s vision, mission, priorities and cultural attributes. Consults with cross-functional team members and serves as an ambassador, communicating with diverse stakeholders, external employers and CPS employee audiences.  Requires sound judgment, strong ability to be proactive and responsive to different situations. Deals with highly complex situations with significant organization-wide impact. Must communicate about highly nuanced issues with different staff and management levels.

 

Essential Job Functions

Brand Engagement: Internal (CPS Employees)

  • Develops organization-wide internal communications strategies and programs using resources across the departments to measurably improve employee understanding and commitment to strategic objectives and help staff understand and engage in the mission and vision of CPS.
  • Establishes and manages a strategy for company-wide and team-specific brand communications.
  • Collaborates with marketing team members on branding and communications initiatives, including strategy development, creative development, copy and implementation of internal campaigns.
  • Works closely with Organizational Development and Chief Marketing and Growth Officer to create strategic communications programs that help create a change adept organization.
  • Develops annual and multi-year budgets for activities and track expenditures to ensure that available resources are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Establishes an annual schedule and cadence for employee communications and hold stakeholders accountable to schedule.
  • Manages communications dedicated to day-to-day issues and crisis situations.
  • Lead high-level task forces and project teams to address major issues and organizational change initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Organizational Development and other key internal stakeholders on implementation of surveys to measure employee engagement and effectiveness of communications channels.
  • Stays up-to-date on employee communications best practices and uses survey results and feedback to fine-tune current channels and develop new ones that add value.

 

Brand Engagement: External (CPS Ministries and Members)

  • Directs all aspects of brand exposure and organizes opportunities to introduce, enhance, and protect the CPS brand among audiences.
  • Provides strategic guidance on stakeholder outreach based on thorough analysis of stakeholder priorities and alignment with CPS values.
  • Identifies and assists in development of new marketing partnerships and opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with account leads from key vendors in developing and executing brand engagement.
  • Ensures consistency of message and presentation of CPS brand across all communications channels and touchpoints.
  • Collaborates and conducts Cultural Training with vendors to introduce and reinforce CPS brand and LCMS relationship.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree in marketing, public relations, communications, preferred.
  • Strong background/working knowledge of branding concepts and principles.
  • 10+ years of experience in internal/change communication plan development and brand management.
  • Experience with diverse marketing channels
  • Experience within / knowledge of the LCMS, preferred.
