Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Senior Vice President, Gift Planning.

Essential Job Functions

  • Executes a Gift Planning Strategy that details major and secondary goals.  Assumes responsibility for the success of work plans and for achieving agreed upon financial, activity and gift production objectives. 
  • Personally visits prospects regarding charitable planning and invites them to consider a gift plan which could include a direct gift, and/or a revocable or irrevocable instrument. 
  • Implements individual gift plans based on scriptural stewardship principles.  This can be accomplished through building Christian relationships through centers of influence, seminars, conferences or any appropriate gatherings. 
  • Maintains and continually improves knowledge and expertise in gift planning and all relevant principles and concepts in charitable giving.  Complies with revisions to responsibilities as needed to fulfill the Foundation’s mission and those of the partner organizations.
  • Accepts mutual professional supervision and direction provided by the appropriate leadership of the LCMS Foundation and contracted ministries in the region. 
  • Maintains close working relationship with the executives and representatives of the contracted ministries.  Assists other ministries in the region as requested.  Relates to, assists, and coordinates with other Gift Planning Counselors, volunteers and other individuals and entities as authorized by the appropriate Vice President.  Works closely with development staff of partners and other organizations that are in a “Working Relationship” with the Foundation and all appropriate fraternal organizations.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience in gift planning or fund development, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses integrity, people skills, communication skills, an ability to motivate others.
  • Professional discretion and judgment in confidential matters.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Must be an active member in an LCMS congregation.
