Reporting Relationships

  • Specialist, Organizational Development / Human Resources reports to the Director, Organizational Development / Human Resources, Concordia Plan Services-LCMS.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assists the director with design, development and implementation of OD programs and HR initiatives, strategies and processes to deliver results for Concordia Plan Services and help drive the organization to ‘employer of choice’ status.
  • With guidance, designs, develops and implements programs tailored to meet the strategic talent management and workforce initiatives and goals of CPS.
  • Develops and facilitates individual and group training programs for employee development and to support organizational strategies and goals.
  • With HR support, leads talent identification, recruitment and selection processes for business areas.
  • Performs research and analysis to generate ‘best in class’ processes and practices; makes recommendations and serves as an OD / HR subject matter expert and advisor to managers and staff.
  • Manages CPS internship program to ensure excellent interns are sourced (including on-campus recruiting), hired, and placed into rewarding / contributing roles within the organization; relationship management with Concordia Universities Career Services office.
  • Assists with HR administrative work, as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in organizational development, human resources, human resources development or related field; graduate degree in related field, preferred. 
  • Three (3) years of work experience in OD, training and development, and / or human resources development.
  • Possess strong knowledge and application of the principles, concepts, processes, and practices related to ‘best in class’ OD / T&D / talent management. 
  • Willingness to pursue OD, HR, related certification; current certification preferred.



  • Demonstrates judgment, flexibility and organizational skills required to carry out multiple projects and diverse assignments.
  • Ability to articulate and present information simply and concisely; capacity to reflect / apply CPS values in all internal and external communications. 
  • Proficient with system and collaborative tools (LinkedIn, Smart Sheets, SharePoint), skilled in use of MS Office suite; command of instructional design tools a plus.
