Organizational Profile

CUEnet - a virtual educational program of the Board for University Education/Concordia University System - is an expansion of the BUE/CUS educational programs to provide distance education from LCMS campuses and other identified sites to reduce the obstacles of time and distance for those seeking Luthean educational experiences, leadership opportunities and face-to-face interactive communication.  In pursuit of this mission, CUEnet faciitates technological and educational collaboration amoung LCMS educational entities, including the International Center of the LCMS, district administrative centers, seminaries, universities, colleges, high schools, elementary schools and congregations.

To this end, the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director, deployed as Administrative Assistant (Enrollment and Accounts Management) at CUEnet, will help to maintain well-functioning protocols within the business office of CUEnet.  This will be a part-time (60%) position.

Position Relationships

  • Reports to the Executive Director, BUE/President, CUS.
  • Immediate supervisor is the Chief Operations Officer of CUEnet, under the leadership of the Senior Director of CUEnet.
  • The role of every employee at CUEnet will be to function within a team environment under the direction of the Senior Director of CUEnet.  Activities of employees at CUEnet will purposefully overlap with the intention of preserving the stability of the organization through redundant capability amoung the team members.  It will be the responsibility of the Chief Operations Officer and the Senior Director to ensure that this redundancy is efficient and appropriate.

Principal Responsibilities

Primary

Enrollment Management:

  • Serve as an encouraging and helpful first point of contact for many students
  • Managing students' colloquy program application
  • Managing students' course registrations (enrollment)
  • Maintaining students' academic records
  • Facilitating students' endoresement process
  • Facilitating students' colloquy interview process
  • Providing student transcripts as needed
  • Communicating with all students their progress in all categories listed above
  • Coordinating with the colloquy mentors regarding student registration and student progress

Accounts Management

  • Monitoring CUEnet accounts
  • Managing invoices/accounts receivable/accounts payable
  • Managing tuition and scholarship records
  • Managing purchase orders
  • Liaison with Synod's accounting office, including the regular submission of reports as structured and required by IC accounting for the purpose of accounts management

Additional

  • Assisting Colloquy Director in responding to all colloquy-related constituents (e.g. students, district executives, administrators, etc.)
  • Providing basic office managment
  • Assisting with office tasks as needed

 

Requirements

Position Qualifications

Essential

  • Active member in good standing of a Christian congregation
  • A Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years of record keeping or office management experience in a professional setting
  • Known amoung colleagues as a coordinator and team player who has a facility to strengthen and improve relationships among colleagues
  • Effective technology skills (Access, Excel, and Quickbooks at a minimum) and competence in oral and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated capacity and enthusiasm for researching and learning new skills
  • Enjoys teamwork (horizontal managment)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to function in ambiguous situations and willingness to be flexible and cooperative with regard to assigned hours of service
  • Applicant must live in Central Oregon

Other Desireable

  • An active member in good standing of a Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod congregation
  • Practical experience as a bookkeeper or accountant in a professional setting
  • Practical Lutheran (LCMS) school experience
