Reporting Relationships

  • Health Services Intern reports to Health Services Specialist. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • With training provided by CPS, interns will conduct an outreach/survey to health plan members educating them and collecting feedback on the new benefit enhancements of the health plan. 
    • Analyzes member benefit plans and provides appropriate information related to the phone campaign. 
    • Assist members with benefit plan interpretation.
    • Engages in problem resolution for health plan members if necessary.
  • Maintains and facilitates a confidential atmosphere when handling sensitive health benefit information.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Classified as college Sophomore, Junior or Senior.
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0, preferred.
  • Majors: Healthcare Leadership, Health Administration, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Communications, Marketing.

     

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating compassion, patience and empathy.
  • Strong command of system and collaborative tools (MS Office); any experience with an Enterprise Resource System (e.g. PeopleSoft, Infor, Lawson, SAP), a plus.
  • With direction, uses sound methods to solve problems, performs objective analysis, and engages others in analyzing and developing solutions.
  • Participates fully on assigned teams, fosters a collaborative spirit, builds relationships within assigned department, CPS vendors and other CPS interns.
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to values-based customer service approach.
  • Interacts effectively with a wide variety of people; respectful and maintains the dignity of others; amicable; fosters differing opinions and values input from various perspectives.
